As the songs competing for this year’s competition in Basel continue to be selected, the team at That Eurovision Site will react to the entries that will be participating at Eurovision 2025. The next entry we will react to is Ireland, which will be competing in this year’s competition with “Laika Party” by Emmy.
Our thoughts on “Laika Party”
In this series, we will provide our opinions via two methods. One of our team members will be reacting on video, which you can see below, whilst up to three members will give their written opinion on the entry. Tim will be on the main seat and will be showing his reaction to “Laika Party”
What did the other team members think of “Laika Party”?
Molly: This song is just pure EDM fun and I have had myself come back to listening to this song a lot. The lyrics and story are really creative. I am excited to see how this is shown on the Eurovision stage since the stage within Eurosong was very small and limited so it can only get better. The song is very catchy which can be used very well and have people take more of a liking to the song and can help it gain support and popularity.
Daniel: This is just pure dumb fun at the end of the day. It’s nothing revolutionary or anything we’ve not seen before, but it doesn’t pretend to be that either. It’s firmly in the “I’d never stream it but it will go hard at Eurofest and the likes” category, which is a lovely place to be. Sadly I think it’s a borderline qualifier at best thanks to a lot of televote vacuums likely to hoover up some voters in the same niche.
Kittens: Yes the others have said it already but I think there is such a place for the lighthearted fun of this song. I have really come round on this one – wasn’t sold on the Eurosong performance, but it is so catchy and has that singalong charm that doesn’t happen with every song. I can see this being danced to in living rooms across the world on the night – the simple dum-dum-dum bits and the easily replicatable dance routines will make it a euroclub staple. I do worry that it won’t be staged well and that looking at the others in the semi it will suffer, but I think you’d be hard pressed to not enjoy it.

In 1965, Ireland made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest with Butch Moore and the song “Walking the Streets in the Rain”, which managed to place 6th. Since their debut, Ireland has participated 57 times (making the Grand Final 46 times), and has won the competition seven times, which is currently tied for the record of most wins.
Ireland’s latest Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Bambie Thug, with their song “Doomsday Blue”. They placed 6th in the Grand Final, receiving 278 points in total, 138 of which were from televoters and 142 were from the national juries. This is Ireland’s best result in the 21st century.
