As the songs competing for this year’s competition in Basel continue to be selected, the team at That Eurovision Site will react to the entries that will be participating at Eurovision 2025. The next entry we will react to is Finland, which will be competing in this year’s competition with “Ich Komme” by Erika Vikman.

Our thoughts on “Ich Komme”

In this series, we will provide our opinions via two methods. One of our team members will be reacting on video, which you can see below, whilst up to three members will give their written opinion on the entry. Tim will be on the main seat and will be showing his reaction to “Ich Komme”

What did the other team members think of “Ich Komme”?

Kittens: ‘Ich Komme’ is just such an experience. I truly believe that Erika Vikman could sing nursery rhymes and still make it super engaging on stage. The song is maybe not a lyrical tour de force, but it really doesn’t have to be, it’s more about evoking the soul of the thing. The one thing she can do over and above most others is grab attention, and deliver a performance that can’t be ignored, no matter what happens – which is a very important skill in the Eurovision world. I don’t really see a world where this doesn’t qualify for the final.

Rory: I absolutely love this song and the charisma and personality Erika just oozes in every aspect of this performance. People have been clutching their pearls while she is proudly declaring that she is feeling a sensation of pleasure that is entirely normal. Why are we stigmatising that? Performance-wise as well, she is doing this ALL BY HERSELF. She is confident, she is powerful, she is sexy and she knows it. It’s going to make connections with people across Europe and this is going to do very well in Basel – maybe even challenge for the win.

Daniel: Oh I am super duper not the target audience for this, and the song does absolutely nothing for me. That being said, one thing nobody can take away from Erika Vikman is her second to none stage presence. Rory and Kittens have both waxed lyrical about how her charisma could pull off any song well and I couldn’t agree more. I can see this doing very well in Basel, but don’t think we’ll be off to Finland any time soon.
