As the songs competing for this year’s competition in Basel continue to be selected, the team at That Eurovision Site will react to the entries that will be participating at Eurovision 2025. The next entry we will react to is Lithuania, which will be competing in this year’s competition with “Tavo Akys” by Katarsis.
Our thoughts on “Tavo Akys”
In this series, we will provide our opinions via two methods. One of our team members will be reacting on video, which you can see below, whilst up to three members will give their written opinion on the entry. Tim will be on the main seat and will be showing his reaction to “Tavo Akys”
What did the other team members think of “Tavo Akys”?
Angus: This song was an unexpected winner in my opinion, and I still don’t quite know what to make of it. I adore how layered the instruments are, vocally this is more complicated and intricate than people will likely give it credit for, and both in terms of genre and energy it is something we rarely see in Eurovision. “Tavo Akys” is the kind of song that could do with being 5 minutes long, really giving every element time to breathe and to further play with the varying textures present in the music, or be under 2 minutes and mostly focus on a single element. While it is possible to make a good 3 minute radio cut of such songs, I don’t think this is quite what that would be like. It took me a couple of listens to really fall in love with this, but now I most certainly have.
Daniel: In a word, captivating. Put this on and you bet I am drawn in for the full three minutes. There’s just something so hauntingly beautiful about this, especially with the staging concept that the band have gone for. Also, I can’t echo Angus enough in absolutely loving the layering of the instruments. Keep it up Lithuania, because you are quickly becoming one of my favourite Eurovision countries.
Shiloh: I could just echo what those two have already said, but no! I’m going to be original! One of my favourite things about “Tavo akys” is Lukas’ vocal performance. The absolute commitment and desperation when he’s singing “tavo, tavo, tavo” (“yours, yours, yours”) at the end? Captivating. I love. And it’s such a delightfully dark song, too, sonically, which honestly is going to be a breath of fresh air in the middle of all the in-your-face peppy songs this year.

Lithuania’s Eurovision Journey
The Baltic nation made its debut at the Eurovision Song contest in 1994, where Ovidijus Vyšniauskas represented them with the song “Lopšinė mylimai”, which placed 25th. Since then, Lithuania has participated 22 times and made the Grand Final 15 times. LT United gave Lithuania their best ever Eurovision result back in 2006, where the country placed 6th.
In 2024, Silvester Belt represented Lithuania, participating with the song “Luktelk”. Performing in the first semi-final, Silvester qualified for the final in fourth place. In the Grand Final, Lithuania finished in 14th place overall, with 90 points – 32 points came from the juries, with another 58 points from the televote.
