After winning Melodifestivalen and earning the right to represent Sweden, interest in Vörå, where KAJ are from, has increased, where it got to the point that the municipality had to hire a ‘KAJ’ Director in the lead-up to this year’s contest.
Taking care of the ‘Sauna’ tourists and organising a Eurovision party
SVT spoke with Jessica Havulehto, who has been hired in the role, ahead of Eurovision 2025. She started her role at the beginning of the month, with her role including leading the municipality through Eurovision week, as well as making Vörå more accessible to tourists as the number of tourists increases for Spring and Summer.
Speaking about the appointment of a ‘KAJ’ co-ordinator, Municipal Director Jan Finne comments:
We are very happy and proud of KAJ’s success. It has been noticed in the village here that people are looking more positively at the future and we have also gained a positive belief in the future in general.
Who are KAJ?
KAJ is a musical trio made up of Kevin Holmström, Axel Åhman, and Jakob Norrgård. The band first formed in Vörå in the Swedish-speaking area of Finland in 2009, after the trio first met whilst playing football. After their formation, the group has developed a trademark blend of humour and regional dialects, singing in Finnish and Swedish. In total, the band has released seven different albums, with their most recent effort being released in 2024.
The song KAJ are bringing to Eurovision 2025 – “Bara bada bastu” – was written by KAJ themselves, as well as Anderz Wrethov, Robert Skowronski, and Kristofer Strandberg.
