Eurovision in Basel is less than a month away. In the lead-up to the start of rehearsals, we will get to know a bit more about this year’s artists, their discography, and their Eurovision 2025 journey so far. Next up, we will preview France’s Louane.
Louane’s Eurovision Journey So Far
France internally selected their Eurovision 2025 representative. Despite initially denying the Eurovision rumours, Louane was officially confirmed for Eurovision 2025, and was the last entry to be revealed for Basel. France automatically qualifies for the final as part of the Big Five, but will perform “maman” between Georgia and Denmark at the second semi-final on May 15.
Louane will be participating in Eurovision 2025 with “maman”, which was written by Louane herself alongside Tristan Salvati.

Who is Louane?
Louane is a French singer and actress who has grown into one of the biggest names in the Francophone music scene since first emerging from The Voice France in 2013. She has released five studio albums, with her debut Chambre 12 peaking at #1 in the album charts in France, Wallonia and Romandy. Two of her albums are Diamond certified with SNEP, with a further two platinum albums. Her most recent album Solo was released in late 2024.
France’s Eurovision Journey
France is a powerhouse in Eurovision, debuting in the first Contest in 1956. Their first entries finished in second place, but no scores were ever published. Since then, France has gone on to win the Contest five times. The most recent win came in 1977, with Marie Myriam’s “L’oiseau et l’enfant”, scoring 136 points.France has seen a rebirth in results following a change in direction in 2016. Amir finished in 6th position for France with “J’ai cherché”, followed by 12th, 13th and 16th places respectively.
For 2024, France continued to choose internally, they chose Slimane with his song “Mon amour”. At the close of voting in Malmö, France finished in 4th place, earning 445 points. Of these, 218 points were given by the juries, whilst the televote allocated an extra 227 points to France.
