Leonardo Giovannangeli has been chosen to represent Italy at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with the song “Rockstar”.
RAI announcement
In an email sent to That Eurovision Site, RAI confirmed that the 11-year-old from Rome has been selected as this year’s entrant. The song “Rockstar” is produced by Universal Music Italia. It has not yet been released, and RAI has not announced when it will be published.
Leonardo was a finalist on The Voice Kids and is described as a confident young performer. His biggest inspiration is Michael Jackson, and he also enjoys dancing, acting and wrestling.
Broadcasting and production
Rai Kids will produce the Italian broadcast, with the final airing live on Rai and RaiPlay on 13 December. RaiPlay will also share exclusive content days before the contest.
To ensure accessibility, Rai Pubblica Utilità will provide both subtitles and audio description. Coordination of Italy’s participation is being handled by Rai’s International Relations and European Affairs Department, which works with the EBU and other delegations.
Italy’s Junior Eurovision journey
Italy made its Junior Eurovision debut in 2014 with Vincenzo Cantiello and the song “Tu primo grande amore”. The performance scored 159 points on its way to a victory. Since winning, Italy’s best result is a 3rd place in the 2016 contest. Italy has so far participated eight times.
Italy most recently participated in 2024. Simone Grande and his song “Pigiama Party” reached ninth place after receiving 52 points from the jury and 46 from the online vote.
