🇲🇩 Cătălina Solomac: “I want to give everything that I have to the people when I go on stage”

Ahead of the competition, Tetiana spoke with Cătălina Solomac who is this year’s contender aiming to go to Vienna with her song “Pink Margarita”. Selecția Națională 2026 is taking place at Arena Chișinău on January 17th to select Moldova’s representative at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

In the interview, Tetiana and Cătălina discuss her previous attempts to represent Moldova at Eurovision. She also talks about her growth, change and development as and artist, total focus on Eurovision Song Contest and dream to perform the her headline show.

Cătălina shared how happy she is with her song and promised to give her best to the audience when she will take the stage at Arena Chișinău.

Who is Cătălina Solomac?

Cătălina Solomac is a 18-year old student from Moldova who devoted her life to music since the very early age. An up-and-coming singer in the country, she has already released many songs in her career and attempted to represent Moldova at Eurovision Song Contest three times: in 2024 with “Fever”(she finished in fourth place), in 2025 with her song “Demons” taking the third place and made another comeback with “Pink Margarita” in 2026.

Moldova’s Eurovision journey

Moldova is relatively new to the Eurovision Song Contest, joining in 2005. Their debut entry, Zdob și Zdub, finished in 6th place, which had remained their highest scoring entry up until 2017. They were dethroned by returners Sunstroke Project and the song ‘Hey Mamma’, which finished in 3rd place. At the close of voting, Moldova received 374 points.

After representing Moldova in 2007, Natalia Barbu returned to Eurovision in 2024 with the song “In the Middle”. She received 20 points in the first semifinal, ultimately placing thirteenth and missing out on the grand final.
