San Marino broadcaster RTV are looking for acts for the 2027 national final. The final of the San Marino Song Contest will be held on March 6th 2027. Sammarinese broadcaster SMRTV has announced that submissions for the contest are open from today.
Dreaming San Marino Song Contest 2027
San Marinese broadcaster SMRTV has today announced that submissions are open for the country’s San Marino Song Contest national final. San Marino RTV was one of the first broadcasters to confirm participation in the 2027 Contest. This year’s selection will once again be held in two parts, with the Dreaming San Marino Song Contest selecting around 240 acts from the submissions. These will take part in the Stage & Live Academy phase. Five acts will then be selected from each of the 8 Dreaming San Marino Song Contest shows to make it through to the San Marino Song Contest.
The broadcaster will then host two semifinals on March 3rd and 4th 2027. Five acts will be selected from each semifinal. The 10 acts that qualify for the final will be joined by 10 acts directly invited by SMRTV. If an artist from San Marino makes it to the semifinals, they will be awarded an automatic wildcard place in the final. The first stage of the application process can be found here.

Why is the San Marino Song Contest so infamous?
The national final has become somewhat of an infamous diary date for Eurovision fans in recent years, due to the chaotic nature of the show. San Marino subsidies its participation in Eurovision through the San Marino Song Contest application fees, and regularly accept over 200 participants.
Following a marathon of jury-only qualifying rounds, the top songs compete in a live show. But here’s the catch. Access to the Contest is not limited to San Marino nationals. SMRTV accepts participants from around the world. The Contest can see acts who were unsuccessful in their own nation’s national final, or those from non-Eurovision competing nations. Everyone has an opportunity to represent San Marino. The national final is also known for having impressive interval performances.
San Marino’s Eurovision journey
As one of the smallest countries in Europe, San Marino made its debut in the competition in 2008 with Miodio and the song “Complice”. Since then they have participated in the competition 14 times, qualifying for the grand final in three. Their best result was in 2019, with Serhat and “Say Na Na Na”.
Eurovision alum Senhit returned to represent San Marino in 2026 with her song “Superstar” – accompanied by 80s legend Boy George. Performing in the first semi-final, San Marino failed to qualify for the final, eventually finishing in 14th place with 41 points. Of these, 23 points came from the televote and the remaining 18 came from the jury.
