🇫🇮 Blind Channel – “Stars We See”
The Finnish Nu metal band Blind Channel announced a hiatus from music in 2024, with singer Joel Hokka leaving the band shortly after. Earlier this year, Blind Channel announced their return to the Finnish rock scene, with new album “Painstream” due at the end of October. The band, now fronted by lead vocalist Niko Moilannen without Hokka (who now performs with his own band HOKKA), have followed up last month’s EP with a new single, “Stars We See”. The track is a big nu-metal anthem, exactly as you would expect from the Finnish metal icons. If the first three songs from “Painstream” are anything to go by, 2026 is going to be a great year for Blind Channel fans.
🇳🇱 Douwe Bob – “Note To Self”
The Netherlands’ Douwe Bob placed 11th in the Eurovision Grand Final back in 2016, with his country-pop inspired song “Slow Down”. Since then, Bob has made a name for himself in both country music, and for his online, outspoken activism. Latest single “Note To Self” is an old school, country love song, with an emotional twist. The song is a commentary on toxic masculinity and Douwe Bob’s own experience of manhood. It’s a beautiful country track, with an important message in a 2026 context.
🇸🇪 Tusse – “Run”
Sweden’s 2021 Eurovision participant Tusse, who performed the track “Voices” at the Contest in Rotterdam, now releases music under the name Toussaint Chiza. The latest single from Toussaint comes in the form of big, choral pop ballad “Run”. The track shows off Chiza’s vocal prowess, and is an incredibly impactful sound. The song builds as it progresses, with a choir joining the singer for the last chorus and verse, adding to the already impressive impact of Toussaint’s music.
🇮🇸 Diljá – “Við og við”
Iceland’s Diljá narrowly missed out on a spot in the 2023 Eurovision final with her entry “Power”. The latest single from the singer, “Við og við”, is a beautiful Icelandic ballad. The song is emotional, powerful and incredibly vocally impressive. Diljá has teamed up with Icelandic musician Friðrik Dór, who made an appearance in the Söngvakeppnin national final back in 2015, where he placed second. Together, their voices compliment each other in a beautiful finished track.
🇳🇱 Jeangu Macrooy – “Daar Gaat Hij”
The Netherlands host entrant at the Contest in Rotterdam in 2020 and 2021 Jeangu Macrooy is back with a new release this week. The song “Daar Gaat Hij”, originally released back in 1989 as “Daar gaat ze” by popular Belgian band Clouseau, is a gender flipped version of the song. Jeangu performed the new version of the track on the famous Dutch TV music celebration Beste Zangers, which sees popular musicians cover and reinterpret famous songs. The release is a great piece of music, showing off Macrooy’s incredible vocal.
🇱🇹 Jurijus – “Nieko Nesakyk”
Jurijus represented Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv with his song “Run with the Lions”, placing 11th in the second Semi-Final and narrowly missing out on a spot in the Grand Final. The latest single from the Lithuanian musician comes in the form of country-folk-pop track “Nieko Nesakyk”. Unlike his Eurovision entry, the track is completely in the Lithuanin language, and the country-rock influence is very exciting for Jurijus.
🇲🇩 Lidia Isac – “Unde”
Lidia Isac represented Moldova in the Contest back in 2016 with the song “Falling Stars”, but unfortunately failed to qualify to the Grand Final. Since 2016, the singer has released a string of singles, the latest of which is electro-pop record “Unde”. The track is a collaboration with musician Lilian, and together they have created an exciting dance-pop record.
🇳🇱 OGENE – “Something Perfect”
Dutch sisters OG3NE have represented The Netherlands in both the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (2007) and the Eurovision Song Contest (2017). Lisa, Amy and Shelley have since rebranded as OGENE, dropping the 3 as according to the group, you’ll hear the 3, you don’t need to write it. The trio have changed up their sound somewhat too, from vocal ballads to a more mature, RnB sound. The latest release from the trio comes in the form of EP “Something Perfect”, featuring July’s release of “Twin Flame”. The 6 song EP is a brilliant piece of RnB from the girls, and their new sound suits their combined voices incredibly well. This is contemporary, modern and fun, while still being a classic RnB sound. OGENE are in their prime!
🇩🇪 Levina – “Invincible Summer”
Levina represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017Â in Kyiv with the song “Perfect Life” and finished in 25th place with 6 points in the final. In recent weeks, Levina has been dropping singles from her latest album, and this week the full album “Invincible Summer” is out! It’s a beautiful compilation of ethereal indie-pop songs and ballads, showing off Levina’s vocal talents. As a complete album, this is chill, vibey, relaxing and incredibly enjoyable. Personal highlights include tracks “Rush Hour”, “Big Thirteen” and “Wrong”.
