🇫🇮 Benjamin – “Tulkoon rakkaus (Vain elmämää)”
Benjamin became somewhat of a fan favourite in the 2023 edition of Finlands UMK national final. The electro-gay-pop artist entered the show with his high energy, electro-dance track “Hoida Mut”, and despite only finishing 7th in the selection, the song had huge commercial success in Finland. The musician returned to the UMK national final the following year to host the show, alongside Pilvi Hämäläinen and Viivi Pumpanen. During the show, he took to the stage as an interval performer alongside fellow 2023 UMK artist KUUMAA, performing a mashup of their previous year’s entries. Benjamin is currently taking part in Finland’s Vain elämää TV show, and this week takes on the music of Milijoonasade in the form of “Tulkoon rakkaus”.
Vain elämää (meaning “It’s only life” in Finnish) is a popular Finnish reality music television series, where a group of well-known Finnish musicians live and record music together. Each show features the music of a specific member of the group, with the original artist listening and reacting to the new interpretations of their song. The final episode usually features duets or group performances. The show is an adaptation of the Dutch format De beste zangers van Nederland. The title of the show comes from the classic 1973 song “Vain elämää” by legendary Finnish singer Irwin Goodman. The show premiered in 2012, and has become one of Finland’s most successful and long-running reality television programs, spanning numerous seasons and featuring dozens of Finland’s top recording artists. This week, the musical theme came from the hits of Finnish band Milijoonasade.
🇮🇹 Annalisa & Madame – “Amica (con Madame)”
Both Annalisa and Madame are a regular feature of Italy’s Festival di Sanremo music celebration, having competed countless times over recent years. Both took part in the 2024 edition, Annalisa with her fan favourite track “Sinceramente”, which placed third, and Madame as one of the songwriters behind Angelina Mango’s winning entry “La noia”. The latest single from the duo is electro-synth-indie track “Amica”. This has elements of 90s synth indie, blended with contemporary Italian pop and is a great track from both artists.
🇪🇸 Siderland – “L’Última”
Siderland made history in Spain’s Benidorm Fest in 2023 for being the first act to compete in the national final with a song completely in the Catalan dialect. They missed out on a spot in the final of that year’s Benidorm Fest, but gained huge fan appreciation for the Catalan record “Que esclati tot”. New single from the band is pure summer indie pop. “L’Última” would fit on many a movie soundtrack, and is a really enjoyable track.
🇫🇮 BESS – “Ohita intro (Vain elämää)”
BESS competed in the 2022 edition of Finland’s UMK national final with her electro-pop record “Ram pam pam”, becoming a fan favourite in the process. She would place 3rd in the national final, behind Cyan Kicks and eventual Eurovision representatives The Rasmus (who also feature on this week’s round-up). Despite not winning the national final, “Ram pam pam” became a massive hit in Finland. It was the most streamed Finnish song of 2022, and broke records in the country by spending 19 weeks at number one on the Finnish Radio Airplay Chart. She returned to the UMK stage the following year and appeared as one of the interval acts alongside The Rasmus. For the 2023 Contest in Liverpool, BESS acted as the jury spokesperson, giving the 12 Finnish points to Loreen’s “Tattoo”. In 2025, BESS once again appeared as an interval act in the UMK national final, alongside Linda Lampenius, Keira and other Finnish icons.
The latest release to come from the 17th season of the popular Vain elämää TV show sees BESS reimagine Miljoonasade’s “Ohita intro” into a modern, DnB inspired dance-pop sound.

🇱🇹 Gabrielius Vagelis – “Nubučiuota”
Lithuanian indie-pop star Gabrielius Vagelis has entered the country’s national selection process for Eurovision many times over the last decade, most recently coming 8th in the contest in 2023 with the song “Šauksmas”. This week, Gabrielius has released “Nubučiuota”, a synth heavy, indie-dance track. The song is really quite interesting, and the instrumental of the track is a great piece of indie-electronica.
🇩🇪 Clara Louise – “Golden Hour Forever”
Clara Louise entered the German selection process in 2014, with her acoustic pop ballad “Alles was mir bleibt”. Latest single “Golden Hour Forever” sees Clara deliver another indie track, with clear country inspirations. The lyrics to this track are quite beautiful, and the overall vibe of the song is just incredibly pleasant and enjoyable.
🇺🇦 STASYA – “Мама говорила”
STASYA competed in the wildcard round of Vidbir 2024 with her song “Rika”, but failed to make it to the televised final. Latest single “Мама говорила” is a great example of female fronted Ukrainian rap, that so many artists in the country do so well at. It’s fun, it’s catchy, it’s impressive. This is a great track.
🇱🇹 Rūta MUR – “Visi bučiuojasi”
Rūta MUR participated in the 2023 edition of the Lithuanian national final for Eurovision, Pabandom iš naujo!. The musician won the public vote, and placed second overall with her 1980s synth-pop/disco-style track “So Low”. New music from Ruta comes in the form of synth electronica song “Visi bučiuojasi”, building on the success of national final entry. Her impressively low voice is really intriguing, and keeps you hooked layered over the synth score behind the vocals. This is a great track if you like synth-pop and indie-electronica. Justice for Ruth MUR please, I need to see her incredible voice on a Eurovision stage at some point.
🇨🇭 Carrousel – “Une île où rester”
Having entered the Swiss national final for Eurovision in 2013 with the song “J’avais rendez-vous”, French-Swiss band Carrousel finished second. They have since found huge success in French and German speaking Europe with their eclectic mix of big band, orchestra, electronic, jazz, disco and piano music. The band’s new single “Une île où rester” is the kinda French language music that just scratches that itch in my brain. This is magical.
🇺🇦 DEMCHUK – “Somebody Real”
DEMCHUK competed in Vidbir 2023 with his emotional pop song “Alive”, eventually placing 5th in the national final. New single “Somebody Real” is a moody, dark sound, where DEMCHUK’s recognisable vocal really shines through. The song is fresh, intriguing and captivating. It’s a great sound for the Ukrainian singer following his viral hits “Sins” and “Sorry”.
🇸🇪 Jon Henrik Fjällgren – “Dina Tårar”
Colombian-born, Swedish-Sámi singer Jon Henrik Fjällgren has entered Melodifestivalen on four different occasions. The singer placed second in the 2015 competition, third in Mello 2017, fourth in 2019 and most recently placed fourth, once again, in 2023 with “Where You Are (Sávežan)” alongside Arc North and Adam Woods. Jon also performed as the marquee interval act at the 35th edition of the Sámi Grand Prix in Norway, in 2025. Latest single “Dina Tårar” is a much more emotional ballad sound for Jon Henrik, still featuring his iconic vocal sound.
🇪🇸 Rayden – “Hey chaval”
Spanish rapper and singer Rayden took part in the very first edition of Spain’s Benidorm Fest back in 2022. He placed fourth in the final of the contest, with his song “Calle de la Llorería”. This week, the rapper features on the new single “Hey Chaval” from Chiquita Movida. The track is a fresh, modern sound, with a big ballad style chorus, and an uptempo backing track.
🇺🇦 TAYANNA – “Набираю”
TAYANNA has twice competed in Ukraine’s national selection, in 2017 and again in 2018, coming 2nd both times. She was also the Jury spokesperson for Ukraine at the Contest in 2021. This week, TAYANNA has teamed up with ТATIША on “Набираю”. The track is a beautiful duet between the two Ukrainian performers, showcasing both of their talents amazingly.

🇬🇧 Mae Muller – “Met my match”
If I can get a chance to talk about the last time the UK got televote points in Eurovision (it was Mae Muller 2023 btw) I will take it. The UK’s Mae Muller appears on the songwriter credits on the new Say Now track “Met my match”. These girls are amazing and it blows my mind that they aren’t yet the biggest girlband in current UK pop music. Mae’s talents for songwriting are also incredible, and there seems to be no stopping her in recent months. 2026 is the year of Mae Muller. Who knew!?
