Georgia have confirmed their intention to participate in the 2027 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, due to be held in Bulgaria. The Georgian broadcaster GPB announced the country would attend the contest in May.
GPB confirms 2027 participation
In a statement provided to ESC Today, Georgia’s public broadcaster GPB has confirmed it will be taking part at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027. No specific information has been released on how the act and song will be released.
Traditionally, Georgia is used to selecting its act and song for Eurovision internally, with the last official national selection taking place in 2023 when Iru was chosen to represent the country through The Voice. The last standalone national final was held in 2017. Georgia now becomes the first country in the Caucasus region to confirm its participation at Eurovision 2027.
Georgia’s Eurovision journey
Georgia’s history in Eurovision has been mixed since they began competing in 2007, represented by Sopho Khalvashi with “Visionary Dream”. Their highest placements – both coming in 9th – were achieved in 2010 and 2011, with Sopho Niharadze performing “Shine” and Eldrine with “One More Day”. They had not qualified for the final of the contest since 2016 until 2024, when Nutsa Buzaladze finished 21st with her song “Firefighter”.
For 2026, GPB selected former Junior Eurovision winners Bzikebi to represent Georgia with their song “On Replay”. In Vienna, Georgia failed to qualify for the final, earning just 5 points in the semi-final, ultimate placing fifteenth − last.
