🇺🇦 Alina Pash – “Under The Mask”
Alina Pash was the original victor of Ukraine’s 2022 Vidbir national selection. The singer entered, and won the contest with her song “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors”, with Kalush Orchestra placing second. After some controversial issues with reportedly forged documentation and Ukrainian Crimea visitation laws, Alina withdrew from the selection after her win. This allowed Kalush Orchestra to step into her spot at the 2022 Contest, and the rest, for Ukraine, is history.
This week, the singer is back with a new single, “Under The Mask”. The song opens with an unsettling nursery-rhyme sound before turning into a electro-trap/rap record. This is exciting!
🇮🇹 Geolier (+ Achille Lauro & LAZZA) – “TUTTO È POSSIBILE – ATTO II”
Geolier made his debut at the Sanremo Music Festival in 2024 with the track “I p’ me, tu p’ te”, which was the the first-ever song written entirely in the Neapolitan language to compete in Sanremo’s main tier. Geolier was a huge fan favourite in the 2024 festival, winning the public vote by a large margin, but missing out on the win to Angelina Mango, due in part to the lower votes than expected from the juries. Following on from last month’s collaboration with fellow Sanremo alum Achille Lauro, and as a part two to January’s “TUTTO È POSSIBILE” album, this week, Geolier has released “TUTTO È POSSIBILE – ATTO II”. The album features collaborations with a number of artists, including San Marino Eurovision representative Achille Lauro, and fellow Sanremo alum LAZZA, as well as a surprise feature from 50 Cent.
🇵🇱🇸🇪 Margaret – “List do starych”
Margaret made her debut in the Eurovision universe in the Polish national final Krajowe Eliminacje 2016 with her song “Cool Me Down”. Before the selection, Margaret was both the bookies and fan favourite to win the Contest, but placed 2nd behind eventual ESC participant Michał Szpak. Margaret found fame as a musician across many countries in Europe in the late 2010s, with “Cool Me Down”gaining particular recognition in Sweden. Following the success of her music in Sweden, Margaret entered Melodifestivalen in 2018 with her song “In My Cabana”, placing 7th in the final. In 2019 she returned to the Swedish national final with “Tempo”, this time failing to make it out of the heats.
Since her Melodifestivalen stint, Margaret has served as a coach on The Voice Poland for two seasons of the show, in 2019 and again in 2025. This week, the singer is back with a new single, “List do starych”. The song is emotional, soulful, powerful and impressive from Margaret.
🇫🇮 Benjamin – “Onneks (Vain elämää)”
Benjamin became somewhat of a fan favourite in the 2023 edition of Finlands UMK national final. The electro-gay-pop artist entered the show with his high energy, electro-dance track “Hoida Mut”, and despite only finishing 7th in the selection, the song had huge commercial success in Finland. The musician returned to the UMK national final the following year to host the show, alongside Pilvi Hämäläinen and Viivi Pumpanen. During the show, he took to the stage as an interval performer alongside fellow 2023 UMK artist KUUMAA, performing a mashup of their previous year’s entries. Benjamin is currently taking part in Finland’s Vain elämää TV show, and this week takes on the music of rapper Ares. Benjamin’s take on the track, “Onneks”, sees him spin an emotional rap song into a bratty, boy-diva anthem.
Vain elämää (meaning “It’s only life” in Finnish) is a popular Finnish reality music television series, where a group of well-known Finnish musicians live and record music together. Each show features the music of a specific member of the group, with the original artist listening and reacting to the new interpretations of their song. The final episode usually features duets or group performances. The show is an adaptation of the Dutch format De beste zangers van Nederland. The title of the show comes from the classic 1973 song “Vain elämää” by legendary Finnish singer Irwin Goodman. The show premiered in 2012, and has become one of Finland’s most successful and longest-running reality television programs, spanning numerous seasons and featuring dozens of Finland’s top recording artists. This week, the musical theme came from the hits of Greek-born, Finnish rapper and song-writer Ares.
🇪🇸 Lérica – “Kisiera Yo Saber”
Spanish pop duo Lérica took part in the 2024 Benidorm Fest national selection, with their song “Astronauta”. This week, the pair release new single “Kisiera Yo Saber” ahead of their upcoming album. The track is flamenco inspired pop-rap, with plenty of claps and plenty of guitars. This is really fun.
🇸🇪 Clara Klingenström – “Förbannad”
Swedish singer-songwriter has appeared in multiple Melfest national finals in Sweden, first entering back in 2010, as part of the web wildcard selection round, and most recently competing in 2024, with the song “Aldrig mer”. This week, Clara releases new single “Förbannad”. This is, in my opinion, the best Clara has ever sounded. This is a big, ballad sound with fresh pop-guitar energy.
🇩🇪 Clara Louise – “Love Was Never Here”
Clara Louise entered the German selection process in 2014, with her acoustic pop ballad “Alles was mir bleibt”. Latest single “Love Was Never Here” follows on from September’s “Golden Hour Forever” and sees Clara deliver another indie track, with clear country inspirations. This is really sweet, if not usually to my taste, but Clara sounds great on this track.
🇪🇪 Cartoon – “Ultraviolet”
Cartoon most recently appeared in Eesti Laul in 2024, with Ewert Sundja and the song “Oblivion”, which didn’t make the final. The band had previously appeared in the Estonian national final back in 2016, alongside Kristel Aaslaid with the song “Immortality”. Here, they finished in third place in the superfinal. The duo have had huge success across Europe with their blend of house, techno and EDM songs. This week, they join Dutch DnB producer Artino on the release of new single “Ultraviolet”. Turn this up and have a little rave. It’s on the softer side of Drum and Bass, but still has one hell of an impressive chorus.
🇫🇷 Silvàn Areg – “Ni Koment Ni Kes”
In recent years, France have stepped away from a national final to choose their Eurovision participant. But back in 2019, Silvàn Areg competed, and eventually placed 5th in the Destination Eurovision selection show with his catchy French pop sound, “Allez Lear Dire”. This is a really sweet French rap-ballad.
🇮🇹 SANTI FRANCESCI – “Due come noi due”
Italian pop duo SANTI FRANCESCI competed in the 2024 edition of Italy’s Festival di Sanremo, placing 18th with the song “L’amore in bocca”. The pair won their slot in the 2024 festival after winning a qualification through the 2023 Sanremo Giovani, with the song “Occhi tristi”. This week, SANTI FRANCESCI have released “Due come noi due”, a big, bold indie-pop track. This would fit on a teen coming-of-age movie soundtrack, with plenty of guitars and synths and distorted vocals. I love this.
🇸🇪 Peter Jöback – “Ordinary Street”
Peter Jöback competed in Sweden’s Melodifestivalen back in 2010, with the song “Hollow”. The singer returned to the Melfest stage as a guest performer in subsequent years, most memorably taking part in the Phantom of the Opera interval performance in 2013. Peter’s latest release, “Ordinary Street”, is a really sweet, crooner style performance. This wouldn’t be my go-to style of music by choice, but his talent is undeniable.
🇫🇮 BESS – “Toivottavasti (Vain elämää)”
BESS competed in the 2022 edition of Finland’s UMK national final with her electro-pop record “Ram pam pam”, becoming a fan favourite in the process. She would place 3rd in the national final, behind Cyan Kicks and eventual Eurovision representatives The Rasmus (who also feature on this week’s round-up). Despite not winning the national final, “Ram pam pam” became a massive hit in Finland. It was the most streamed Finnish song of 2022, and broke records in the country by spending 19 weeks at number one on the Finnish Radio Airplay Chart. She returned to the UMK stage the following year and appeared as one of the interval acts alongside The Rasmus. For the 2023 Contest in Liverpool, BESS acted as the jury spokesperson, giving the 12 Finnish points to Loreen’s “Tattoo”. In 2025, BESS once again appeared as an interval act in the UMK national final, alongside Linda Lampenius, Keira and other Finnish icons.
The latest release to come from the 17th season of the popular Vain elämää TV show sees BESS take on Ares’ “Toivottavasti”. This is great.

🇪🇪 SADU – “n ä m e . v e e l”
Though SADU as a band have never taken part in Eesti Laul themselves, many of the members have a connection to the national final. Frederik Küüts has appeared in Eesti Laul twice, as Fredi. The musician took part in 2020 with Anett and the song “Write About Me”, and again in 2023 alongside Anett with the song “You Need To Move On”. Küüts has also appeared twice in the selection as a songwriter, with credits on Rahel’s 2021 entry “Sunday Nights” as well as gem98’s 2025 entry “Pyscho”. Sofia-Liis Liiv, who provides both vocals and violins to the SADU project, was credited as a co-writer of Inger’s 2023 Eesti Laul entry “Awaiting You”. Founding member of SADU Sandra Sillamaa has her own connections to the Eesti Laul national final, appearing as a jury member in the 2016 edition. The latest release to come from the group, “n ä m e . v e e l”, is pure Estonian indie. With a sweetness and lightness to it on the vocal track, but with a deep, country-guitar sounding backing track (which also features incredibly brass).
🇺🇦 KOLA – “Тримаєш мене”
Ukrainian singer KOLA entered the 2017 Vibir national final in Ukraine with her song “Flow”. This week, she released new single “Тримаєш мене”. The track is an emotional and deeply personal pop ballad. KOLA posted online that it represents a sincere conversation with yourself during life’s most challenging moments. The song explores themes of emotional exhaustion, accepting pain and finding the “anchor” or person that keeps you grounded in the world.
🇱🇹 Ruta MUR – “TURIZMAS”
Rūta MUR participated in the 2023 edition of the Lithuanian national final for Eurovision, Pabandom iš naujo!. The musician won the public vote, and placed second overall with her 1980s synth-pop/disco-style track “So Low”. This week, the singer has released her first full length album since 2024, and wow is it a good record start to finish. This mixes synth-pop, jazz, indie, disco, rock, alt-electronica and ballads in one place, while always keeping Rūta’s instantly recognisable, deep vocal at the forefront.
Junior Eurovision artists
🇬🇧 Freya Skye – “2000 Miles – Spotify Singles Holiday”
UK Junior Eurovision representative Freya Skye is having an incredibly busy end to 2026 so far. The young pop singer, who represented the UK at the Junior Contest in 2022 with the 5th place entry “Lose My Head”, is currently on a world tour, and recently released new single “bad taste“, but this week has entered the Spotify Singles studio for new release “2000 Miles”. The track is a new spin on the 1980s song from The Pretenders of the same name, delivering a more mature sound for Freya, in an emotional way. It feels too soon to be listening to a Christmas song, but the emotional story behind this track, and Freya’s pure talent, means I’ll give it an exception.
🇫🇷 Carla – “Gendre idéal”
French singer-songwriter Carla Lazzari represented her country at the Junior Song Contest in Gliwice, in 2019. She placed 5th for France in the Contest with the electro-pop song “Bim bam toi”, which was co-written by French Eurovision star Barbara Pravi. The song became a viral sensation on TikTok and Spotify following the 2019 Junior Contest. She has since returned to the Junior Eurovision stage, and made an appearance at the main Eurovision Song Contest as a co-host of the Contest, Jury Spokesperson, and as a commentator in subsequent years. Latest single “Gendre idéal” is a French language, dance-pop ballad. A brilliant track.
🇮🇹 Leonardo Giovannangeli – “Turn your eyes”
Leonardo Giovannangeli represented Italy at the 2025 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Tbilisi. The 12 year-old Italian singer performed the pop-rock song “Rockstars” at the Contest, finishing in 12th place. After a few releases earlier in 2026, this week, the young singer is back with “Turn your eyes”. This is a step away from the pure rockier sound for Leonardo, with an electro-rap spin to an otherwise pop-rock sound.
🇬🇪 Anita Abgariani – “Northern Lights”
Anita Abgariani was selected to represent Georgia on home soil at the Junior Contest in 2025. The young singer placed 3rd at the Contest in Tbilisi with the song “Shine Like a Star”. This week. she follows up with her first non-Eurovision release, “Northern Lights”. The single is an allt-edm sound, with ethereal vocals from the young singer. The song was written by Giga Kukhianidze, who has also written for fellow Georgian JESC star and this year’s Junior Eurovision entrant from Georgia, Davit Lomidze.
🇦🇲 Albert – “Miasin”
Albert Armenakyan represented Armenia in the 2025 Junior Contest with the song “Brave Heart”. The young singer and performer is a veteran of music competitions, having entered the selection for Armenian Junior Eurovision 3 times, and even made an appearance on The Voice Kids in France. For his first release since taking to the Junior Eurovision stage, Albert has recorded “Miasin”, a beautiful, emotional ballad.
Honourable mentions / tenuous links
🇨🇿 Adam Mišík – “Kolik Dní?”
Adam Mišík’s main connection to the Eurovision Song Contest comes as host of the short lived Czech national final, ESCZ. This week, the TV host and musician releases big electro-dance track “Kolik Dní?”. This has somewhat of a UK Garage sound to it, while still being recognisably a Czech dance record. Intriguing, exciting and fresh.
🇺🇸 Grant Knoche – “FRICTION”
One of the fan favourites to come out of the short-lived American Song Contest, GRANT KNOCHE has new music. The Texas born singer placed 4th in the American edition of the Song Contest with his song “Mr. Independant”. This week, the singer joins recent collaborative partner Ella Collier on the release of new single ‘FRICTION”. I will make no attempt to hide my admiration of Grant Knoche’s raw sex appeal in his music. He takes RnB and pop, mixes it with a dance, EDM or rap beat, and creates a sexy, sultry, powerful sound every time.
🇩🇪 Helene Fischer – “Warum”
Helene Fischer acted as Germany’s jury spokesperson back in 2014, awarding the jury points from Germany at the Contest in Copenhagen. The German schlager queen has also covered many Eurovision anthems over the years, most notably taking on Loreen’s “Euphoria” and Barbara Pravi’s “Voilá”. This week Helene is back with “Warum”, huge sounding Schlager pop-ballad with a banging beat.
