After a busy 2026, including a Melodifestivalen entry with the Swedish chart topping hit “Iconic”, as well as a their own fresh take on the Roxette hit “You Got The Look“, A*Teens are back with new music. The four-piece from Sweden have this week released their first original Christmas song, “Merry Christmas To You”.
About “Merry Christmas To You”
Swedish four-piece pop group A*Teens are ending 2026 with their own original Christmas song. The group, who took part in Sweden’s Melodifestivalen for the first time as a competing band earlier this year, have released the festive track “Merry Christmas To You”.
A*Teens say:
We’ve recorded Christmas songs before, but we’ve never released an original Christmas song of our own. We wanted to make a classic Christmas pop song in our own way, with strong melodies, lots of energy and that mix of warmth, excitement and nostalgia that comes with the holiday season. “Merry Christmas To You” feels very A*Teens and has one of those choruses that sticks with you straight away. Hopefully, it can become part of people’s Christmas celebrations this year and for many Christmases to come.
The song is the perfect blend of Christmas nostalgia and A*Teens pop perfection.
The new festive track from the group was written by Dino Medanhodzic, Thomas G:son, Jimmy Jansson and Moa “Cazzi Opeia” Carlebecker, the same team who worked on the group’s 2026 Melfest entry “Iconic”.

Who are A*Teens?
A*Teens are a Swedish pop group, formed in Stockholm in 1998. The group consists of members Marie Serneholt, Amit Paul, Dhani Lennevald, and Sara Lumholdt. Originally established as an ABBAtribute band under the name ABBA-Teens, they later renamed to A*Teens. The four-piece has achieved huge success in Sweden, and more broadly across Europe, amassing eleven top-ten singles on the Swedish charts. After a six-year run, A*Teens disbanded following the release of their Greatest Hits compilation in 2004. After a 20-year hiatus, the group reunited in 2024.
A*Teens’ Melodifestivalen Journey as soloists
Although a huge success in Sweden in the early 00s, the four-piece first appeared in the Swedish national selection for Eurovision as soloists. Sara Lumholdt of the group entered Melodifestivalen as a soloist in 2011, with the song “Enemy”. She finished in seventh place in the third heat of the contest, and was unable to make the final of the selection that year.
Marie Serneholt entered the 2008 Melfest as one of the wildcard acts with the song “Disconnect Me”, but was unable to make the final of the selection. Alongside Rickard Olsson, Marie co-hosted the semi-finals and final of Melodifestivalen 201. The following year, she returned to Mello as a competing artist with the song “Salt & Pepper”, but once again was unable to make the finals.
A*Teens’ Melodifestivalen Journey as a group
The group first appeared together in Melodifestivalen in 2024, as the interval act during the competition in Malmö, the host city of that year’s Eurovision Song Contest. During their appearance, they performed a medley of their hits, “Upside Down”, “Floorfiller” and their covers of “Mamma Mia” and “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)”.
In 2026, A*Teens made their competitive Melodifestivalen debut with “Iconic”, their first new release in more than 22 years. They secured a place in the final after earning the highest combined score from the public vote, which consists of age groups and telephone voting in the second round of voting during the first heat of Melodifestivalen 2026. In the final, they finished seventh, receiving a total of 67 points from the international juries and the public vote.
