After taking a two-year break, İctimai Television has confirmed earlier today in its show “Sabahın Xeyir Azərbaycan” that Azerbaijan will be competing at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which is due to take place in Paris. The song that she will be competing with in this year’s competition is to be confirmed at a later date.
Competed in The Voice Kids Azerbaijan
Sona is no stranger to competitions, where she competed in 2020, at the first season of The Voice Kids in Azerbaijan, where Azerbaijan’s Eurovision 2019 representative Chingiz Mustafayev was a coach, and even turned his chair around for her, whilst performing her version of “Zombie” by The Cranberries. at her Blind Audition. During her participation, she managed to place 2nd overall.
What we currently know about the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Junior Eurovision 2021 will take place in Paris, France following Valentina’s victory in JESC 2020 with “J’imagine”. The contest will be held in La Seine Musicale on December 19th.
With this latest confirmation, the list of the participating countries so far is as follows:
- France (Host)
- The Netherlands
- North Macedonia

Azerbaijan’s Junior Eurovision Journey
The Land of Fire first competed in Junior Eurovision back in 2012, where they were represented by Suada Alakbarova and Omar Sultanov and the song “Girls and Boys (Dünya Sənindir)” which placed 11th. Azerbaijan competed once again in 2013 and took a break for four years. Their recent participation in the competition saw them being represented by Fidan Huseynova with “I Wanna Be Like You” which placed 16th.
