Do we ever find out an artist’s journey whilst they participate at Melodifestivalen? While some people post on social media, here and there about their preparations. Well, SVT has announced that Swedish television presenter Farah Abadi, will be following the participants on their Melodifestivalen journey. This is from the moment they are announced to be competing, until the final of the competition.
“Farah Abadi is the eyes of viewers who follow the contributions all the way”
Speaking about the new segment following the artist’s journey at Melodifestivalen, the program’s Project Manager Anette Brattström mentions the amount of work required participating at Melodifestivalen:
On television, it may look like the artists’ Mello journey is three minutes, but it starts much earlier. Already in the autumn, work begins on building the perfect song. In Melodifestivalen 2022, we give viewers a unique insight into the process, where Farah Abadi is the eyes of viewers who follow the contributions all the way – from start to finish. The combination of Oscar Zia as a presenter, and Farah Abadi as the artists’ company and supporter will be unbeatable.
Upon getting this gig, Farah mentioned her excitement for the role, as well as working with Oscar Zia once again:
This is a dream job! To follow the artists on their Mello journey from start to finish. Oscar to wear the host suit, he loves to be the center of attention, so it’ll be perfect for him. It’s backstage where the real drama will take place. Oscar is like my little brother, he can be cocky and a real little tease, but he is also very safe, warm and fun to hang out with. It will be great to work together again
Upon the reveal that Farah Abadi will take on the role, Melodifestivalen 2022 host Oscar Zia is excited to be working with Farah once again:
Having Farah on the Mello trip in 2022 is like having your big sister at a party. Sometimes very disturbing but at the same time so safe. We’ve known each other for a long time, and I don’t know anyone better suited to the emotional journey of the performers than Farah. She will be the safe hand the performers need before and after they have performed. Now I can’t wait to tour!
This won’t be the first time Farah worked on Eurovision. In 2016, she worked as a reporter for Eurovision in Stockholm at 2016. In addition, Farah and Oscar previously worked together at P3 five years ago and have been ambassadors together for Musikhjälpen.
Sweden’s Eurovision Journey

In 2021, Sweden was represented by Tusse, who won the 60th edition of the competition and competed with the song “Voices”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 14th with 109 Points from the Jury and Televoters.
