The Eurovision Song Contest 2022 concludes tomorrow, with our Grand Final line-up and running order now confirmed. But that hasn’t stopped our artists from releasing new music!
Summer single from Måneskin
With Måneskin confirmed among Saturday night’s interval acts, what better time to unleash their latest single on the world? Max Martin-produced “SUPERMODEL” is the Italian rock group’s first release in 2022, and follows last autumn’s raucously fun “MAMMAMIA.” This latest single sports an irresistibly summery sound – think Red Hot Chili Peppers – and lyrics centred around a fictional party girl character. Music mag Kerrang! quotes the band on their new track:
“We wrote Supermodel after spending the best few months in LA. At times we were surprised yet intrigued to find how people cared so much about the idea of ‘celebrity’ and status, obsessing over their looks and connections. We started to imagine an enigmatic Supermodel character. She is really cool, fun and social, yet in reality she is troubled, hiding sadness and addiction. In a way you love her, because she knows how to have a good time, but you also want to avoid her, because she might get you into trouble.”
Video teasers from earlier in the week featured the four young musicians frolicking around a swimming pool in the sunshine, sporting exquisite fashion and big *vibes*.
Måneskin will perform “SUPERMODEL” live on the ESC stage tomorrow night, but in the meantime, you can listen to the new drop here:
New album from Alvan
Alvan & Ahez are representing France at Eurovision 2022 thanks to their victory at Eurovision France: C’est Vous Qui Décidez! earlier this year. On Tuesday, we saw a sneak peak of what to expect from the Breton supergroup at Saturday’s Grand Final. In the meantime, Alvan took advantage of the brief break between rehearsals to drop his debut album, “Magma.” France’s ESC entry “Fulenn” features alongside seven other brand new tracks.
You can listen to “Magma” by Alvan on Spotify now:
Emma Muscat releases new music
She may have crashed out of Semi-Final 2 of this year’s contest, but Malta’s Emma Muscat is keeping her head up and promising that we won’t forget her any time soon. Her new EP “I Am Emma” marks her first extended release since 2018’s “Moments.” Speaking to TVM News today, the singer said:
“Onto the next chapter. I’m so grateful for all the international support I’ve got as well and my album ‘I Am Emma’ has just come out. It’s full of new music, new emotions and new journeys so I’m really positive about this experience.”
As well as her ESC entry “I Am What I Am,” the new EP includes “Out of Sight,” the song with which Emma won the Maltese national selection, Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2022, back in March.
