It has been just over a month since Kalush Orchestra won the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin Italy. Today the Live-On-Tape performances that were recorded in the event an artist could not perform in Turin continues to be released. The next performance that was released was Andrea’s performance of their song “Circles”.
About Andrea
Andrea is a relative newcomer to the music industry, having only been releasing music since the end of 2020. She previous attended Skopje’s Academy of Music Arts. Her six singles are available to listen to on her YouTube channel, with her most successful of these being “I Don’t Know Your Name”.
What is a Live-On-Tape
A Live-On Tape performance is essentially a backup performance. Last year they were used in the event that a delegation could not travel to Rotterdam. This proved to be the case for the Australian delegation in 2021, due to the strict travel restrictions in place in the country at the time. Iceland also had to use a backup performance, however instead of the one they recorded in Iceland they used rehearsal footage, recorded in Rotterdam. Iceland had to use a Live-On tape due to several members of Daði & Gagnamagnið testing positive for Covid-19 during Eurovision 2021.

At the time of writing, you can now watch the Live-On-Tape performances for Ronela Hajati (Albania), LUM!X and Pia Maria (Austria) Intelligent Music Project (Bulgaria), Mia Dimšić (Croatia), REDDI (Denmark), The Rasmus (Finland), Amanda Tenfjord (Greece), Systur (Iceland), Brooke (Ireland), Michael Ben David (Israel), Citi Zēni (Latvia), Monika Liu (Lithuania), Emma Muscat (Malta), LPS (Slovenia), Marius Bear (Switzerland), Vladana (Montenegro), Ochman (Poland), MARO (Portugal), Achille Lauro (San Marino), Konstrakta (Serbia).
North Macedonia’s Eurovision Journey
The upcoming year will see North Macedonia’s 21st participation at Eurovision. The ex-Yugoslav nation made its formal debut in the Contest in 1998 with Vlado Janevski’s “Ne zori, zoro”. Performing last, North Macedonia finished 19th out of 25.
Following Kaliopi’s participation in 2012 with “Crno i Belo”, North Macedonia began a 6-year non-qualification streak. Tamara Todevska’s participation in 2019 broke the streak with her song, “Proud” – which finished in 7th place, winning the jury vote.
In 2022, Andrea represented North Macedonia, singing her song “Circles”. Andrea performed in the second semi-final, finishing in 11th place out of 16. In total, Andrea received 76 points.
