Australia has confirmed their intention to participate in the 2027 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, due to be held in Bulgaria. The Australian broadcaster SBS announced the country will send an artist to the contest in May.
SBS confirms participation
The news of Australia’s participation was revealed when SBS announced its programming for 2027 with the contest being announced as one of the shows that will be airing and asking the question ‘who will represent Australia in 2027?’
At the time of writing, SBS is yet to confirm how it will be selecting its representative for Bulgaria, following the internal selection of Delta Goodrem for Vienna
Australia’s Eurovision journey
The most recent country to debut into the Eurovision Song Contest, Australia debuted in 2015. Guy Sebastian represented the land down under with his entry “Tonight Again” in Vienna, where they placed 5th. Since their debut, they have participated every single year of the competition.
Australia internally selected Delta Goodrem to represent them in 2026 with the song “Eclipse”. She would qualify for the final and ultimately finished in 4th place, Australia’s second-best result at the contest behind Dami Im in 2016. At the close of voting, Australia were given 287 points, 165 coming from the jury, with the remaining 122 points coming from the televote.
