Before it was official that the United Kingdom will be hosting the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, a few cities expressed their interest in hosting next year’s contest. This time, another city that has expressed interest in putting its name forward, is Nottingham.

When asked about the possibility of bidding for next year’s contest, a spokesperson for Nottingham City Council said to the BBC News the following statement:
Nottingham has great credentials to host a prestigious and internationally popular show like the Eurovision Song Contest.
It would be a fantastic honour and boost for the city, placing Nottingham on the world stage as the televised broadcast reaches over 180 million viewers.
The city is perfect for visitors with plenty of things to see and do, is compact with a superb green travel network and has great transport links for national and international visitors
We look forward to the publication of the detailed bidding criteria and process to then consider whether we will be able to formally apply to be the host city
Nottingam City Council on a Eurovision 2023 bid
If Nottingham proceeds with a bid to host the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, the venue that they could put forward is the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham, which has the capacity to hold a maximum of 15,865 spectators, and has held concerts for artists such as Little Mix, Westlife, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry, Elton John, Lady Gaga and One Direction.
