Before it was official that the United Kingdom will be hosting the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, a few cities expressed their interest in hosting next year’s contest. One of the cities that said they will be bidding for hosting rights was Bristol. After the official announcement, Bristol reaffirmed their intentions of bidding for next year’s competition.
“Even if Eurovision is not in Ukraine, Ukrainians will be at the heart of Bristol’s Eurovision”
Speaking to BBC Bristol, Marvin Rees, the Mayor of Bristol has mentioned that if Bristol’s bid is successful, he would like the refugees who have found safety in the UK to be involved.
The venue that Bristol is putting forward to host the 2023 Eurovision Song contest, is the Brabazon Hangars, which will be the home of the new YTL Arena, which is due to open in 2024. Upon the announcement, YTL Arena; the venue being put forward for the bid tweeted its support.
