Katarina Savić has been unveiled as the Serbian representative at the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Yerevan this December.
Who is Katarina Savić?
A jury made up of music editors and journalists at Serbia’s broadcaster, RTS, were responsible for selecting the act that would go to Yerevan. After several options, RTS decided that Katarina Savić will represent the nation in Armenia.
Katarina’s song for Junior Eurovision is entitled ‘Svet bez granica’ – translated to ‘World without borders’. Both the music and lyrics have been written by Ivana Dragićević. The release date of her song is yet to be revealed.
As well as this, Katarina is 13 years old and a keen fan of singing. She also loves to play the trombone, as well as dancing ballet.
Serbia’s Junior Eurovision journey
In 2006, Serbia debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with Neustrašivi učitelji stranih jezika and the song “Učimo strane jezike” (Учимо стране језике), which placed 5th. The Balkan nation competed until 2010, where it took a three-year break between 2011 and 2013. Since 2014, Serbia has continuously participated in the competition.
Serbia’s most recent participation in the competition in 2021, saw them being represented by Jovana and Dunja with the song “Children’s Eyes” which placed 13th overall in the competition, where Serbia received 86 points from the jury and online voting.
