Ahead of the reveal of Greece’s Eurovision 2023 representative, three artists were in the running to represent the nation in Liverpool, and they were:
|Victor Vernicos||“What They Say”|
|Maria Maragou & Antonia Kaouri||“Shout Out”|
The three artists were condensed from the seven artists, which was revealed last month.. The four songs which have been eliminated are:
- Konstantina Iosifidou – “We Are Young”
- Monika – “I’m Proud”
- Leon Of Athens – “Somewhere To Go”
- Klavdia – “Holy Water”
The decision of the ultimate winner of the ticket to Liverpool, will be made by a combination of a seven-person committee from ERT, and a seventy-person audience committee. The ERT committee votes will be weighted 49.4%, and the audience committee (chosen to reflect the demographics of the Eurovision audience) will be weighted 50.6%, reflecting the changes made to Eurovision voting this year.
Greece’s Eurovision Journey
In 1974, Greece made its debut to the Eurovision Song Contest with “Krasi, thalassa ke t’agori mou” (Κρασί, θάλασσα και τ’αγόρι μου) which placed 11th. Since then they have participated on 42 occasions (40 of which made the Grand Final), and have one once in 2005.
Greece’s most recent Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Amanda Tenfjord with the song “Die Together”, which saw Greece qualify for the Grand Final, where they placed 8th, after receiving 215 points from the Jury and Televoters.
