🎶 Eurovision music round-up: March 2023

Other Highlights

There is way too much music released every month to cover in-depth, but here are some of the best and biggest new tracks from other Eurovision artists:

Isaura – “Invisível” (LP)

Isaura’s new album is finally out! “Invisível” (Invisible) includes the excellent pre-release singles “Leve,” “Viagem,” “Glória,” and “A noite não conta“, plus 8 all new songs. The indie electronic is reminiscent of The XX’s excellent third album, and Isaura’s song- and lyricwriting is excellent as always.

Madame Monsieur – “Emmêler nos solitudes” (LP)

And Isaura is not the only frequently-featured-here artist to finally release another album, as French duo Madame Monsier present “Emmêler nos solitudes” (Entangling our loneliness). The 11 track album includes some, but notably not all, of their recently released music and a handful of new tracks. The album is jampacked with the French electropop we would expect from the duo.

Barbara Pravi – “Lève-toi” ft. Emel Mathlouthi

An important day in March is International Women’s Day, and Barbara Pravi loves to celebrate it by releasing new music. This year, she teamed up with Tunisian singer-songwriter Emel Mathlouthi to release “Lève-toi” (Get up), which features lyrics in French and Tunisian Arabic. Musically, it combines both artists sounds into a mesmerizing mix as they sing about getting up, uniting, and making sure you are heard.

Gjon’s Tears – “Midnight in Paris”

Gjon’s Tears debut album “The Game” is coming out next month, and his latest pre-release single is “Midnight in Paris”. For this track, which will sit in the middle of the tracklist, Gjon’s Tears opts to sing in English. He wrote the track together with Michelle Leonard (who has worked with AURORA, Alice Merton, and was part of the team behind Frida Gold’s ULFL entry) and Tim Bran (who has worked as a producer with AURORA, London Grammar, and Birdy).

TEMPS – “partygatorresurrection”

British comedian James Acaster is no stranger to making music, and he currently is releasing music as part of the music collective TEMPS. Part of the collective, at least for the track “partygatorresurrection”, is Australia’s Montaigne, who provides vocals for this track. Daði Freyr – “I’m Making An Album 1/3” (EP)

Daði Freyr is working hard on his album, set to be released later this year. Similar to MARO releasing all the songs before release, Daði has decided to give us all the songs ahead of time. Instead of a song a week, he has opted for a trilogy of EPs. The first part, fittingly titled “I’m Making An Album 1/3”, is out now and includes the tracks “Thank You”, “I’m Fine”, “Limit To Love”, and “Shut Up”.

Iveta Mukuchyan – “Margarit”

Meanwhile, those looking to listen to something laidback and classy should tune into Iveta Mukuchyan new track “Margarit”. The new song by Armenia’s 2016 representative is a lovely number combining jazz and R&B elements as the singer is grateful for finding calmness and strength in her partner following hard times.

THE ROOP – “Pavasaris”

THE ROOP are back with more music, and it sees them experiment further with their sound. An acoustic guitar and even some rapping makes this into a great song for celebrating the start of spring. This is also true of the lyrics, which includes lines from the “Spring Joys” part of Kristijonas Donelaitis’ classic Lithuanian poem “Metai” (The Seasons).
