What we know about Eurovillage 2023
The Eurovillage is an area of the city – typically held in the city centre – to promote the Contest. Traditionally, participants give concerts at the Village and thousands of fans unable to get tickets for the shows come together to watch the Contest unfold. For the 2022 Contest, the Eurovillage was located at the Parco del Valentino, 3 kilometres away from the arena.
For 2023, Pier Head will play host to the Eurovillage from roughly the 5th to the 13th of May, as Liverpool welcomes the world for the Contest. The seafront is iconic and is home to some of Liverpool’s most recognisable landmarks. The Liver Building, Beatles Museum and City Hall all are located in the stretch along the River Mersey. The site was already known to be considered in Liverpool’s bid to host the show. Now, following the release of a tender for show security, the area is now formally designated as the venue for the Eurovillage.

United Kingdom’s Eurovision journey
Despite a recent slump in results, the UK is one of the most successful countries at the Eurovision Song Contest. Debuting at the second edition ever of the Contest in 1957, the United Kingdom has won the competition on five separate occasions. The most recent win for the UK was in 1997 with Katrina and the Waves, singing “Love Shine A Light”. The UK also holds the record for the number of second place finishes – currently at 16.
In 2022, the UK was represented by Sam Ryder with his song “SPACE MAN”. The performance managed to impress juries and televoters, and the UK finished in second place with 466 points, their best placing since 1998.
