What did we learn about Sudden Lights’ staging?

According to the Eurovision 2023 liveblog, Sudden Lights went for a staging similar to their national final one with the same style of melancholy/lights work. Andrejs’ voice is very melancholic and there is a moment of stillness at the end that brings the emotions to the viewer. Sudden Lights’ outfits got lost somewhere in Germany, because of that they are wearing their regular outfits. The suitcase might arrive today.

What we thought of Latvia’s first rehearsal

After Sudden Lights’s first rehearsal Janek gave his initial thoughts on the snippet that we saw.

Who is Sudden Lights?

Sudden Lights formed all the way back in 2012. The band members include Andrejs, Mārtinš, Kārlis and Kārlis. The group released their first single “Tik savādi” back in 2015. It wasn’t until 2017 the group would go on to release an album which was entitled “Priekšpilsētas”. This isn’t the band’s first attempt at Supernova, they competed back in 2018 with the song “Just Fine” where they finished in second place. Their song Aijā is written by the band members themselves.

Latvia’s Eurovision Journey

Latvia made their Eurovision debut in 2000, finishing 3rd with “My Star” by Brainstorm. They have performed at every contest since and managed to win in 2002. Marie N sang “I Wanna,” scoring 176 points and bringing Eurovision to Riga in the process. Latvia also managed to finish in the top 10 two more times, in 2005 and 2015. Latvia’s most recent entry on the Eurovision stage was Citi Zeni, who performed “Eat Your Salad”. The song failed to qualify from the semi-final, finishing 14th with 55 points.

What do you think of this year’s latvian entry? Can Sudden Lights finally break the non-qualification streak that latvia has? Let us know your thoughts! Also, be sure to follow “That Eurovision Site” on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok as we prepare for Eurovision 2023!
