With Junior Eurovision rapidly approaching, more and more artists and songs are being revealed. Spanish broadcaster RTVE have revealed that Sandra Valero, who was confirmed as their representative in July, will be singing “LOVIU”.
Song to be released October 3rd
Sandra revealed the song title herself during RTVE, la que quieres, which is a presentation of RTVE’s programming for the coming year. During the event it also was announced that “LOVIU” will be revealed October 3rd by RTVE. The song is described by RTVE as energetic, catchy, and with lots of staging potential. Meanwhile, Sandra comments that she loves the song and wants everyone to enjoy it like she does. The song was written by Luis Ramiro, Diego Cantero of Funambulista, and Alejandro Martinez. Production is in the hands of David Parejo.
About Sandra Valero
Sandra, aged 11 years old and from Valencia, is already well-accustomed to performing for big audiences. As a child, her family helped her into the music industry, with her father, uncle and grandparents all working in music. She first entered the music scene herself aged four. She also has a small Eurovision connection, being a devoted fan of Aitana – who finished in 2nd place in Spain’s selection show for 2018.
As well as this, Sandra has already released a number of her own songs, and has appeared on TV singing competitions. These include The Voice Kids and Idol Kids. Currently, Sandra is playing the role of Mowgli at a local production of ‘The Jungle Book’ in her hometown of Benetússer. In July, she was selected by RTVE to represent Spain at the 2023 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which is set to be held in Nice
Spain’s Junior Eurovision journey
Spain has taken part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest a total of 8 times. Their first participation coming in the first edition of the Contest in 2003. In the initial Contest, Spain was represented by Sergio singing “Desde el cielo”. At the close of voting Spain finished in second place, earning 125 points. Spain would win the next edition of the show with María Isabel’s “Antes Muerte Que Sencilla”, finishing with 171 points.
Spain’s most recent participation was in 2022, when Carlos Higes represented the nation with his song “Señorita” in Yerevan. At the close of voting, Spain finished 6th in a field of 16 participants. Spain earned 137 points – 78 of which came from the online vote. The remaining 59 points were awarded by professional juries across Europe.
