We haven’t even had Junior Eurovision 2023, and we already have a confirmed participant, as The Netherlands confirm its participation for Junior Eurovision 2024.
Junior Songfestival to select the Dutch 2024 representative
As with most of its representatives, The Netherlands will once again be using Junior Songfestival to select its Junior Eurovision 2024 representative. The submissions for the next Junior Songfestival is now open and will close on January 31, 2024.
Aspiring singers are able to find out more about the rules (in Dutch) as well as the submission form right here. With this confirmation, The Netherlands continues to be the only nation in the contest to have participated continuously since its inception in 2003.
Recently, the latest edition of Junior Songfestival concluded with Sep & Jasmijn winning the competition overall, and will represent The Netherlands at Junior Eurovision 2023 in Nice in November.
The Netherlands’ Junior Eurovision Journey
The Netherlands has participated in every edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest since its inception, first taking part in 2003. The country’s first entry came in the form of Roel, singing “Mijn ogen zeggen alles”. At the close of voting, the Netherlands finished in 11th place, earning 23 points. Since then, the Netherlands have taken part another 18 times, earning one victory in 2009 with Ralf Mackenbach singing “Click-Clack”.
In 2022, the Netherlands were represented by Luna with her song “La Festa” in Yerevan. Once the combined scores were revealed, the Netherlands finished in 7th place. They received 58 points from the jury vote, and 70 from the public vote.
