With only a few weeks to go until Junior Eurovision 2024 takes place in Madrid, the EBU has explained how the winner of this year’s contest will be selected.
2 rounds of online voting and a jury vote
In a video uploaded on the official Junior Eurovision YouTube channel, the voting mechanisms for this year’s contest was explained:
There will be two rounds of online voting for this year’s competition. The first voting window will open on Friday, the 15th of November at 21:00 CET and closes on Saturday 16 November at 17:59 CET (just before the live show starts).
The next round of voting would then open on the 16th of November after the last song has been performed during the Live Show. The viewers would then have approximately 15 minutes to cast their vote before the window closes. The votes will be converted into points and revealed during the show.
50% of the vote will be decided by the public, with the other 50% of the vote being decided by a jury.
All About Junior Eurovision 2024
While France won the 2023 contest on home soil, French broadcaster France Télévisions had the right of first refusal to host the 2024 contest. Consequently, the EBU has given hosting honors to Spain, who placed second in Nice with Sandra Valero’s “Loviu”. This year’s competition will take place on Saturday, the 16th of November at Caja Mágica, with the venue holding up to 6,000 spectators. This year’s show will be hosted by Ruth Lorenzo, Marc Clotet, and Melani García.
