It has been revealed to Romanian publication FANATIK that Romanian broadcaster TVR will determine their Eurovision 2024 participation on January 25th. The board at TVR will hold a vote to determine their participation. This was revealed by Dan Turturică, who is the President General Director of TVR. An announcement about Romania’s participation at Eurovision 2024 will be made soon after the vote.
TVR to decide Eurovision 2024 participation soon
Late last year, Romania were not on the participation list for Eurovision 2024, it was later revealed as we reported that the EBU had granted TVR an extension to determine whether or not they could participate. Dan Turturică has revealed that that extension runs out at the end of January. Dan said the following to FANATIK on the situation.
“We will have a board meeting on January 25. We have a reprieve from the European Broadcasting Union to give a final answer until the end of this month. We will have the board meeting, as this is not a decision for me to make alone.

Romania’s Eurovision Journey
Romania joined the Eurovision family in the Eastern wave of enlargement, making their debut in 1994. Their entry – Dan Bittman’s “Dincolo de nori” – finished in 21st place with a total of 14 points. At the introduction of semi-finals, Romania found their stride and were present in every Eurovision final until 2018. Romania’s best result is third place, scored twice in 2005 and 2010 respectively.
In 2023, Romania was represented by Theodor Andrei with his song – “D.G.T. (Off and On)”. Performing at the second semi-final in Liverpool, Romania failed to qualify for the final. At the close of voting in the semi-final, Romania finished joint last, scoring 0 points from the televote.
