After four cities submitted bids to be the host city for Eurovision 2025, this is now two. As revealed by SRG SSR earlier today, Basel and Geneva remain in contention.
Geneva and Basel are still in the running
As revealed by the EBU and SRG SSR, the bids from Basel, Geneva, Zurich and Berne/Biel were carefully assessed, with aspects such as the arena concept, public transport links, sustainability, available hotel accommodation, security and waste disposal concepts, investment, event experience, and support and motivation from the city as a whole were assessed.
The assessment of the bids received was overseen by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). The Steering Committee for Eurovision 2025 which is headed up by SRG Director General Gilles Marchand followed the recommendation of the Core Team to shortlist the host city to Basel and Geneva.
The EBU and SRG SSR will now look into Basel and Geneva as the host city for Eurovision 2025, with the final decision to be made in late August.

Switzerland will be hosting the 69th edition of the competition following Nemo’s historic win at Eurovision 2024 in Malmö. A few weeks after their win, Reto Peritz, and Moritz Stadler, was announced as the Executive Producers, with the other roles revealed in July 2024.

With the bidding period now over, the candidate cities will now present their bid, with site visits commenced at the beginning of July. By the end of July 2024, SRG SSR is set to reveal the two potential host cities that are still in the running, with the winning Eurovision 2025 host city to be revealed by the end of August.
