🇨🇭🏙 Geneva formally bids to host Eurovision 2025

Following Nemo’s win at 2024 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, the preparations for Eurovision 2025 are well underway. Cities across Switzerland are preparing their bids to host the next contest; with Geneva being the most recent to do so.

Geneva’s Bid

The formal announcement of Geneva’s bid comes several weeks after it was announced that the Romandie city had formed a task force to explore the feasibility in hosting next year’s contest.

The city wishes to host the contest in the Palexpo; a large convention centre in the city. The government’s bid is based around the city’s experience in being a global city that has hosted international events, and its status as a highly connectioned city to the rest of Europe. In addition, the city wanted to highlight its status as the city that hosts the EBU’s headquarters. The government is basing their bid on an estimated 30 million France budget.

Geneva is Switzerland’s second largest city and largest in the Romandy. Sitting on a lake just across from the French border, it’s known for its status as an international city boasting the headquarters of dozens of international organisations.

All About Eurovision 2025

Switzerland will be hosting the 69th edition of the competition following Nemo’s historic win at Eurovision 2024 in Malmö. A few weeks after their win, it was already announced that Reto Peritz, and Moritz Stadler will be the Executive Producers of next year’s shows, with the other roles to be filled at a later date.

The following cities have confirmed that they will be bidding to host Eurovision 2025:

With the bidding period now over, the candidate cities will now present their bid, with site visits commenced at the beginning of July. By the end of July 2024, SRG SSR is set to reveal the two potential host cities that are still in the running, with the winning Eurovision 2025 host city to be revealed by the end of August.
