Following their monumental second-place finish at Eurovision 2024, HRT has confirmed their appearance at the 2025 edition of the contest. Their national final, DORA, will return as well, with submissions open until November 15th.
Croatia and Dora to return to Eurovision screens
Croatia saw a second-place finish at Eurovision 2024, with Baby Lasagna and his song “Rim Tim Tagi Dim”. Building on this success, HRT will continue selecting their entry through DORA. Submissions will run from September 20th to November 15th.
Per Eurovision rules, song submissions may not have been performed or released publicly prior to September 1st of this year. A jury will select 24 songs and 4 reserve entries from the submissions. No date for DORA has been confirmed by HRT yet, but the competition will be broadcast via television and through HRT’s website and mobile platforms.
Croatia’s Eurovision journey
Croatia has been a part of the Eurovision family since 1961, as part of Yugoslavia. Ten Croatian artists represented Yugoslavia in the Contest – the most famous of which being Riva, who gave Yugoslavia its only win in 1989. The 1990 Contest was held in Zagreb as a tribute to their Croatian heritage. Croatia debuted in the Contest as an independent nation in 1993 with the band Put and their song “Don’t Ever Cry”. Since then, Croatia has gone on to score as high as 2nd place in 2024.
Last year, Croatia chose Baby Lasagna to represent the nation in Malmö with his song “Rim Tim Tagi Dim”. Performing in the first semi-final, Croatia won the semi-final and qualified to the final. In the Grand Final, Baby Lasagna finished in 2nd place, with a total of 547 points – 210 of which coming from juries, whilst another 337 came from the televote, winning the audience vote that year.
