About “Menys mal que ja รฉs Nadal”
Menys mal que ja รฉs Nadal is more of a homage to Christmas music of old; cheesy, maximalist, and in your face. There’s little focus on one element of the song, with all instruments and vocals maximally used. The horns in particular have an almost 90s-esque vibe to them which I feel works fantastically at getting into the Christmas spirit. The song was written by band members Andreu Manyรณs, alongside Roger Argemi (Que Esclati Tot, MARLENA) and frequent collaborator Oriol Plana Pedret.
What do we think?
I think this return to the sort of Christmas music of old is fantastic. Tear down the minimalist, beige B&M Christmas, and bring back this quintessentially ‘Christmassy’ Christmas music. With Siderland typically leaning more into poppier, and dancier styles music the vocals is what I’d expect there. There’s a grating contrast to the typically fun and upbeat music style that one would expect here that works really well. I cannot stress how much I love the fact that it’s In Your Face Christmas music.
Siderland’s Eurovision Journey
Siderland’s connection to the world of Eurovision began in 2024 when the trio participated at Benidrom Fest 2023; Spain’s selection show for Eurovision. Siderland sang their apocalyptic number Que esclati tot in the second semi final where they sadly didn’t making it through. They came 6th with 88 points.
