In the run up to the 2025 edition of the Luxembourg Song Contest, Daniel met with Laura Thorn, who is one of the seven competitors in the second edition of the contest.

Daniel and Laura chatted about Laura’s route, via classical music to being a modern singer, how her career as a music teacher has influenced her own work, and her love of musical theatre.
About Laura Thorn
Though new to the public eye, Laura Thorn might be one of the most qualified musicians in all of Luxembourg, possessing training in several aspects of music performance, most recently completing a Master’s degree in Music Theory, Music Pedagogy and Pop Singing from the Institute Royal Top Music and Pédagogie De Namur in Belgium. She teaches as the Esch-sur-Alzette Conservatory.
Luxembourg’s Eurovision Journey
Luxembourg first made its debut in the first edition of the Contest in 1956, with their first entries being “Ne crois pas” and “Les Amants de minuit”, both performed by Michèle Arnaud. Since the first Contest, Luxembourg has competed a total of 38 times. Their best result was finishing in 1st place five times – in 1961, 1965, 1972, 1973 and 1983 respectively.
Luxembourg returned to the contest for the first time in 31 years in 2024. Tali, represented Luxembourg in Malmö, with the song “Fighter”. At the close of voting in the first semi-final, it was announced Tali had qualified for the Grand Final. In the Grand Final, “Fighter” received 103 points. 83 points were from the national juries, while 20 points were from the televoters.
