Ahead of her participation in Festival da Canção 2025, Daniel spoke with Inês Marques Lucas about her potential entry “Quantos Queres”. She will perform in the second semi-final of Festival da Canção this weekend on 1st March.

In the interview, Daniel and Inês discuss the meaning of her song, working with her producer Choro, and how she learned to stand out.

Who is Inês Marques Lucas?

Inês Marques Lucas is an indie singer originally from Fátima in Portugal. She was first introduced on a national scale in 2021 with an appearance on The Voice Portugal. Having met producer Choro (who also responsible production for Festival da Canção entries by Rita Onofre in 2024 and 2023’s Inês Apenas.) in 2022 during a songwriting event with the Avalanche project, she began producing songs with him in 2023. She released her debut EP “Horas Mortas” in 2023.

“Quantos Queres” was another song written by Inês with production by Choro.

Portugal’s Eurovision journey

Portugal debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest with António Calvário’s “Oração” in 1964. Since then, Portugal has participated in the competition 55 times – appearing the final 46 times. Their only win in the competition came in 2017 with Salvador Sobral, performing his heart-wrenching song “Amar Pelos Dois”.

Portugal’s most recent participation was with iolanda with the song “Grito”. iolanda managed to qualify for the Grand Final and once there, she finished in 10th place. She received a total of 152 points, of which 139 points came from the jury and 13 points came the televote.
