Sissal from Denmark has given further details about her performance for Eurovision 2025. It comes following her win at Dansk Melodi Grand Prix.
Sissal to completely change Eurovision performance
After her win at Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, Sissal revealed that she herself was unhappy with her staging. As a result, she has been working with DR on providing a completely different stage show for Basel.
Speaking with Eurosong DK, Sissal gave further details on what fans can expect at Eurovision. Changes have been made to both the stage show and the song itself. Within the first ten seconds of the song, a minor revamp has been carried out – to allow for grander visuals on the stage.
On top of this, Sissal confirmed there would be a completely new outfit prepared. She is due to start the performance in a black and white costume, but this turns to a “royal blue” hue midway through the routine. She also will be joined onstage by four different dancers.
A key feature for Sissal’s performance is the use of a piece of fabric that is set to “flutter” over the course of the performance. The delegation had said that this will help to make the stage “smaller” to make the performance more intimate. There are also other surprises for the performances; however, DR has refused to reveal all the secrets.
Denmark’s Eurovision journey
Denmark first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1957 and notched up their first win in 1963 with Grethe and Jørgan Ingmann’s “Dansevise”. Denmark later earned two third-place finishes in 1988 and 1989 but was then relegated three times in 1994, 1996, and 1998. They finally achieved their second victory in 2000 with the Olsen Brothers’ “Fly on the Wings of Love”, and have missed the Grand Final eight times since the introduction of the semi-finals. A six-year qualification streak from 2008 culminated in its third win in 2013 with Emmelie de Forrest’s “Only Teardrops”.
Most recently, Saba represented Denmark after winning their national selection with her song “Sand”. She placed twelfth in the second semifinal, scoring 36 points.
