Delta Goodrem is about to move from the stage of Eurovision to the ballroom of Strictly Come Dancing UK. She was announced on the 12th of June. Strictly Come Dancing UK is set to air on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the autumn.
Delta heads to the ballroom
Delta was announced on the 12th of June for Strictly Come Dancing UK, which started in 2004 and has been running for 22 years. There are 60 different versions of the show globally, including one in Denmark where Sissal didn’t reach the final but finished approximately 5th–6th place out of 10 contestants. Delta took part in Eurovision 2026 with the song Eclipse which placed 4th with a total score of 287 points. Within the UK market, she has appeared as a judge and guest performer on the UK X Factor, along with many of her songs reaching the top 10 in the UK charts, including singles like “Born to Try” and “Lost Without You”.
I’ve been incredibly honoured to perform on many different stages throughout my career – from tv, theatre, film sets, to touring my own shows around the world, there is however one stage I’ve never stepped onto and that is the ballroom floor! I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Strictly and can’t wait to get started!” – Delta Goodrem
Two more artists have also been announced to be joining Delta, including Dani Dyer and Lacey Turner, with the full line-up for this year’s edition to be revealed in due course.
Not the first Eurovision artist to participate
Lulu, who had won for the UK in 1969 with “Boom Bang-a-Bang”, took part in series 9 of Strictly in 2011. Lee Ryan was the second previous Eurovision contestant who took part in Strictly, who represented the UK at Eurovision 2011 as a member of Blue with the song “I Can”. Ryan took part in series 16 of the show in 2018. Delta will now be the third artist to join Strictly who has also taken part in Eurovision.
Australia’s Eurovision History
The most recent country to debut into the Eurovision Song Contest, Australia debuted in 2015. Guy Sebastian represented the land down under with his entry “Tonight Again” in Vienna, where they placed 5th. Since their debut, they have participated every single year of the competition.
Australia internally selected Delta Goodrem to represent them in 2026 with the song “Eclipse”. She would qualify for the final and would ultimately finish in 4th place, Australia’s second-best result at the Contest. At the close of voting, Australia would 287 points, 165 coming from the jury with the remaining 122 points coming from the televote.
