🇨🇿 That Eurovision Preview: Who is ADONXS?

Eurovision in Basel is less than a month away. In the lead-up to the start of rehearsals, we will get to know a bit more about this year’s artists, their discography, and their Eurovision 2025 journey so far. Next up, we will preview Czechia’s ADONXS.

ADONX’s Eurovision Journey So Far

In a change to previous years, Czechia opted to internally select its representative for Basel, with ADONXS being revealed as Aiko’s successor. The roll-out for ADONXS’ entry began with a premiere of the acoustic version during the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, with the official version being released at a few weeks later. In Eurovision 2025, Czechia will be performing twelfth in the second semi-final on May 15.

His song for Eurovision 2025 – “Kiss Kiss Goodbye” – was written by ADONXS himself, as well as Adriano Lopes da Silva, George Masters-Clark, Ines Coulon, Lorenzo Calvo, Michaela Charvátová and Ronald Janeček.

In addition to Molly’s reaction to “Kiss Kiss Goodbye”, you can also find out what the other members of the team thought of Czechia’s entry right here.

Who is ADONXS?

ADONXS is the stage name of Adam Pavlovčin, a 29-year-old singer originally born in Myjava in Slovakia, less than 10 kilometres from the Czech border. Growing up, ADONXS focused heavily on singing and dancing – eventually moving to Prague and London – to pursue a musical career. His big break came in 2021, when he won the joint Czech and Slovak version of Pop Idol, SuperStar. Since then, he has released several tracks under his new persona of ADONXS.

Czechia’s Eurovision Journey

Czechia made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007, with Kabát’s “Malá dama”; however, their debut entry finished last in a 28-song semi-final, scoring only 1 point. This kicked off three consecutive non-qualifications, with their best result coming in 2008, finishing in second-last place. Having withdrawn in 2009 due to poor results, Czechia returned to the Contest in 2015. In 2016, Czechia qualified for the first time with Gabriela Gunciková’s “I Stand”.

Czechia opted for a national selection in 2024, ultimately choosing Aiko with the song “Pedestal”. “Pedestal” scored 38 points in the second semifinal, placing eleventh and just missing out on the Grand Final.
