Before September 1st hits, and we get sucked into a new Eurovision season, we wanted to take the opportunity to give our readers a chance to get to know our team a bit better. How did I get into the Eurovision Song Contest?
Eurovision and I grew up together. I have been watching Eurovision every year since 2007 ( OH GOSH I SHOULD HAVE BEEN BORN EARLIER TO SEE THE CONTEST LIVE FROM GREECE), but yeah, luckily I managed to see Greece many times in the top 10. My family was a fan of Eurovision, so it was like a tradition to see the contest every year all together.
At what point did I consider myself a โEurofanโ?
lol what question is that? Every year, I miss nothing from every national selection or drama that happens, and I always make my top. Also, I have bought flags and I decorate the house when it’s the Eurovision final (This year I bought a very, very big Greek flag). Plus, I have had a Eurovision forum back in 2012.
How has my life changed since becoming a Eurofan?
It’s like Lana Del Rey’s effect. When Eurovision starts, I become a whole different person. You cannot imagine me in Eurovision week. I think it’s fun to express your love for anything you love, and that’s why I do too. I have met plenty of friends who have the same interest in Eurovision. I have met many new artists and different cultures, and that’s what I love about Eurovision. It’s the artists’ time to shine and bring their work to all of us.
What are my favourite Eurovision songs and countries?
Portugal and Sweden. Simple,I like Portugal because since 2019, they have been giving a whole new, fresh air to the contest with different genres. Sweden is the powerhouse because it knows how to make a good Eurovision song. I don’t mind them doing well, as most of the time they deserve it.
If I were to choose five songs only, they would be the following:
- ๐น๐ท Turkey (2009) – Hadise – “Dรผm Tek Tek”
- ๐ฆ๐ฒ Armenia (2008) – Sirusho with “Qele, Qele”
- ๐ฌ๐ท Greece (2024) – Marina Satti with “Zari”
- ๐ต๐น Portugal (2022) – MARO with “Saudade Saudade”
- ๐ฆ๐ฟ Azerbaijan (2009) – Aysel and Arash with “Always”
What are my favourite National Final songs?
- ๐ฎ๐น Olly with “Balorda nostalgia” (Sanremo 2025 – Italy)
- ๐ณ๐ฑ Raffaela with “Chocolatte” (Nationaal Songfestival 2012 – Netherlands)
- ๐ธ๐ช Loreen with “Statements” (Melodifestivalen 2017 – Sweden)
- ๐ฌ๐ท Elefteria Elefteriou with “Tables are turning” ( Ethnikos Telikos 2010 – Greece)
- ๐ฎ๐น Mahmood with “TUTA GOLD” (Sanremo 2024 – Italy)
What are you looking forward to in the next Eurovision season?
I want to see if my country will score a Top 5 result lol.
And if I go to see the show live.
Bye.
