Hello everyone! My name is Nicklas and I come from Denmark. I’ve joined TES as a video editor and occasional yapper and I’m excited to be a part of this team.
I’ve loved Eurovision since my mum introduced me to the contest in around 2001 when I was only 4 years old, but I was hooked from the beginning. Eurovision has helped me grow my love for television, music and culture, and has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember.
When I’m not yapping about ESC, I do a lot of photography and video content creation, and I volunteer as part of Danish Refugee Council, where I help create events for children and teens. I’ve also written and directed short films, held workshops and done many more random adventures that would take too long to mention here.

How did I get into the Eurovision Song Contest?
I owe a lot of my obsession to my mum. She grew up in the 70’s and 80’s where Eurovision had its comeback and (some will say) golden age in Denmark, and for her it’s always been tradition to watch the show. My mum is a huge music fan and got me into music as well at a very young age. When Denmark hosted in 2001 it seemed like a natural thing to introduce to the contest, and while I didn’t understand a lot (and slept though most of it) she did tape DMGP 2001 for me on VHS, and boy did I watch that tape a lot growing up.
At what point did I consider myself as a “Eurofan”?
Flash forward to 2014 when Denmark hosted once more and that’s when I found out what a huge community of Eurofans that existed online. It started with just joining one Facebook group, but it didn’t take long before I got fully into the fandom. In 2015 I began watching national finals, later in the year I became part of my first fansite as a video producer (not gonna tell you which one) and ever since then I’ve been deep into the Eurovision fandom.
What are my favourite Eurovision songs and countries?
Eurovision is what really got me into language and culture, but when it comes to my favourite songs, I’m probably more basic than I’d like to admit. I also don’t really have a favourite country, however I will always have a soft spot for the absolute chaos of San Marino in the 2010s. I love pop, especially the indie kind, and a lot of my current favourites come from the 2019-2022 contests. Outside of Eurovision I listen to a lot of pop rock/pop punk, but sadly we haven’t had much of that in Eurovision…
Also, something to know about me is that I’ve followed JESC since the first contest in 2003 and I have kept my love for it ever since, so as a bonus I’ll throw in 2 of my favourite JESC entries:
- 🇧🇬 Bulgaria (2016) – Poli Genova – If Love Was A Crime
- 🇦🇺 Australia (2020) – Montaigne – Don’t Break Me
- 🇮🇪 Ireland (1994) – Paul Harrington & Charlie McGettigan – Rock ‘n’ Roll Kids
- 🇦🇲 Armenia (2022) – Rosa Linn – Snap
- 🇷🇺 Russia (JESC 2021) – Tanya Mezhentseva – Mon Ami
- 🇪🇸 Spain (JESC 2023) – Sandra Valero – Loviu
What are my favourite National Final Songs?
Honestly I’ve probably listened to my favourite NF entries more than my favourite ESC entries over the years. That’s the thing when you love niche genres and songs, it means your faves almost never win.
All the fans that choose not to watch national finals, you’re seriously missing out.
Once again, I’m gonna throw 2 JESC NF entries into the mix as well.
- 🇸🇪 Melodifestivalen 2017 – Lisa Ajax – I Don’t Give A
- 🇪🇪 Eesti Laul 2022 – Merilin Mälk – Little Girl
- 🇱🇹 Pabandom iš naujo! 2021 – Gebrasy – Where`d You Wanna Go?
- 🇳🇴 Melodi Grand Prix 2023 – Ulrikke – Honestly
- 🇷🇺 National final for JESC 2016 – Maria Mirova – Padayem i Vzletayem
- 🇺🇦 Junior Vidbir 2024 – Zlata Ivaniv – Namysto
What am I looking forward to in the new Eurovision season?
Of course I’m looking forward to all the music, spending every weekend watching national finals and thinking “surely it won’t get weirder this time??” and swearing I’ll never watch the show again when my favourite comes second in the national final – but most importantly, I’m looking forward to stepping into the community again.
In recent years, the community has become much more important to me than the music. I love meeting new people from all over Europe, engaging with culture and sharing my passion with others. The Eurovision community is a place where I can be 100% accepted for who I am, and I know many feel the same. 2026 will hopefully also be the year where I get to take part in more Eurovision parties around the continent, and (hopefully) I will see both new and old friends in Austria in May.
