The 70th Eurovision Song Contest is already attracting a massive global audience, with tens of thousands of fans heading to Vienna from across the world.
A truly global Eurovision
According to the European Broadcasting Union and ORF, around 95,000 tickets have already been sold across nine shows, with fans travelling from 75 countries and territories worldwide. This makes Vienna 2026 one of the largest live Eurovision audiences in years, as the contest celebrates its 70th anniversary.
International demand at record levels
While Austria accounts for the majority of ticket sales, the international interest is striking:
- 42% of tickets have been purchased by fans outside the host country
- Germany and the United Kingdom are among the biggest international markets
- Significant demand is also coming from countries such as the United States, Australia, and Canada
But Eurovisionโs reach goes even further. Fans are expected to travel from as far as Brazil, Japan, South Africa, the UAE, New Zealand, and even the Solomon Islands and Paraguay, underlining just how global the contest has become.
All About Eurovision 2026
The journey to the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest kicked off immediately following JJโs win in Basel, when Austriaโs ORF accepted the rights to host the 70th edition of the contest. The bidding process started in June, with interested cities having until July 4 to submit their bid book. Innsbruck and Vienna were shortlisted, with the latter winning the right to host next yearโs contest. 35 countries will take part in the competition, the lowest number of competing entries since 2004.
As for the organisation of the competition, the โcore teamโ was revealed in June 2025, with further details about next yearโs competition to be revealed in due course. The shows will take place on May 12th, 14th and 16th.
