Latvia’s Eurovision 2026 participant Atvara has released her new single, “Plaisā”, her first release since performing at Eurovision in Vienna, Austria in May.

About “Plaisā”

“Plaisā”, meaning “cracks” when translated into English, is Atvara’s first release since competing in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna in May. The song is, like her Eurovision entry “Ēnā”, completely in Latvian. The track is another collaboration with producer JJ LUSH (Jānis Jačmenkins), who worked with Atvara on “Ēnā”.

This new release once again shows off Atvara’s vocal talents and delivers emotional lyrics which tell the story of heartbreak through not being recognised or parts of yourself becoming invisible to a partner. The instrumental of the song features a heavy guitar backing in the choruses which compliments Atvara’s voice. The track is released on Atvara’s own independent label, Atvara Records.

Atvara’s Eurovision Journey

Atvara is the moniker of Liene Stūrmane, a 32-year-old singer-songwriter from the Latvian city of Liepāja. Liene was a talented singer as a child, and spent her formative years in music school studying jazz and pop singing. She first gained prominence in 2017 when she competed in Latvia’s version of The X Factor. However, it would not be until 2024 when she released her debut song, which went viral on TikTok. Since then, she has had a stellar career in her homeland, working with former Eurovision contestant Intars Busulis.

Her song for Eurovision 2026 – “Ēnā” – was written by Liene herself, as well as Jānis Jačmenkins. She won Lithuania’s 2026 edition of Supernova, their National Final selection, and performed in the second semi-final of the song contest in Vienna. She placed 13th in the semi-final, receiving 28 points from the national juries and 21 from the televote, including the UK public’s 5 points.
