🇪🇪 Heleza (ft. pluuto & Karl Killing) – “mis oleks võinud olla?”
Another album on this week’s round-up list featuring a whole host of collaborations with a national final link, this time from Estonia. This week, Heleza, who participated in Estonia’s national final for Eurovision back in 2021, has released her debut album “mis oleks võinud olla?” Aside from the previously mentioned An-Marlen feature, the album also include collaborations with pluuto, who participated in Eesti Laul most recently in 2021, and Karl Killing, who took part in the Estonian national final in 2018 and 2021. The album as a whole is a great body of work, but each of the collaborations on this project add a new element. Karl Killing sounds amazing when paired with Heleza’s higher pitched voice on the title track, and pluuto add a contemporary rap sound to an otherwise electro-pop record.
🇮🇹 Annalisa – “MA IO SONO FUOCO PLATINUM EDITION”
Annalisa has taken part in Italy’s Festival di Sanremo on many occasions since her debut in 2013. Her best results came in 2018, with the song “Il mondo prima di te” and in 2024, with “Sinceramente”, finishing 3rd on both occasions. She also won the OGAE Second Chance Contest in both 2018 and 2024 with her Sanremo entries. This week, she re-releases her 2025 album “MA IO SONO FUOCO” as a bumper, 25 song Deluxe Edition. Much of this record has already been released and streamed thousands, if not millions of times in Italy, but it’s still an incredible piece of work from Annalisa.
🇫🇮 Benjamin – “Looseri (Vain elämää)’
Benjamin became somewhat of a fan favourite in the 2023 edition of Finlands UMK national final. The electro-gay-pop artist entered the show with his high energy, electro-dance track “Hoida Mut”, and despite only finishing 7th in the selection, the song had huge commercial success in Finland. The musician returned to the UMK national final the following year to host the show, alongside Pilvi Hämäläinen and Viivi Pumpanen. During the show, he took to the stage as an interval performer alongside fellow 2023 UMK artist KUUMAA, performing a mashup of their previous year’s entries. Benjamin is currently taking part in Finland’s Vain elämää TV show, and this week takes on the music of Nylon Beat in the form of “Looseri”. We know Benjamin can deliver a sexy, boy-pop performance, so the blend of his personality with Nylon Beat’s euro pop beats is really fun.
Vain elämää (meaning “It’s only life” in Finnish) is a popular Finnish reality music television series, where a group of well-known Finnish musicians live and record music together. Each show features the music of a specific member of the group, with the original artist listening and reacting to the new interpretations of their song. The final episode usually features duets or group performances. The show is an adaptation of the Dutch format De beste zangers van Nederland. The title of the show comes from the classic 1973 song “Vain elämää” by legendary Finnish singer Irwin Goodman. The show premiered in 2012, and has become one of Finland’s most successful and longest-running reality television programs, spanning numerous seasons and featuring dozens of Finland’s top recording artists. This week, the musical theme came from the hits of special guests, Finnish pop duo Nylon Beat.
🇪🇸 Jorge González – “Modo Fantasma”
Spanish musician Jorge González has attempted to represent his country at the Contest on many occasions, most recently entering in the nation’s Benidorm Fest in 2024 with the big Latin pop track “Caliente”. Latest single “Modo Fantasma” continues that Latin, Flamenco influence, with modern flair. This is fun, uptempo, sexy and incredibly hard to resist.
🇮🇸 Sigga Ózk – “UNIVERSE”
Sigga Ózk has competed twice in Iceland’s Söngvakeppnin national final, in 2023 with “Gleyma þér og dansa” and again in 2024 with “Into the atmosphere” – becoming a viral sensation with the Icelandic ‘go Tiffany’ sounding lyric. This week, ahead of her run in the 2026 Miss Universe pageant representing Iceland, Sigga has released the new single “UNIVERSE”. This is exactly what Eurovision would sound like if it was a worldwide beauty pageant, and not a Song Contest first. The uptempo, dance beat of this track is great. The lyrics are, for want of another word, pageant. But it’s a fun, girl-pop, dance track.
🇩🇰 Aura Dione – “Når Verden Er Sindssyg”
Aura Dione participated in the 2024 edition of Denmarks Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, with the song “Mirrorball of Hope”. Latest single “Når Verden Er Sindssyg” is an emotional indie-pop track, with an exciting indie-electronica breakdown in the chorus. The vocals on this track are quite special, and the backing instrumental is wonderful. This is a great song.
🇵🇹 Bandua – “Bandua II”
Portugese electro-folk duo Bandua took part in the country’s Festival da Canção back in 2023, with the exciting track “Bandeiras”. The pair, made up of Tempura the Purple Boy and Edgar Valente, wound up finishing in 3rd in the second round of voting. The duo have this week released the album “Bandua II”, a follow-up to 2022’s “Bandua” record. This is exciting, electronic folk-pop from the pair.
🇪🇪 Púr Múdd – “DOLLAREID”
Estonia electronic music duo Púr Múdd have entered Estonia’s national selection for Eurovision on a number of occasions. They most recently featured in the Eesti Laul national final back in 2023, as an interval act, but had competed the previous year with singer Shira on “Golden Shores”. New single “DOLLAREID” from Reket sees Púr Múdd feature on an exciting, uptempo electro-dance track.
🇫🇮 BESS – “Seksi vie ja tassi tuo (Vain elämää)”
BESS competed in the 2022 edition of Finland’s UMK national final with her electro-pop record “Ram pam pam”, becoming a fan favourite in the process. She would place 3rd in the national final, behind Cyan Kicks and eventual Eurovision representatives The Rasmus (who also feature on this week’s round-up). Despite not winning the national final, “Ram pam pam” became a massive hit in Finland. It was the most streamed Finnish song of 2022, and broke records in the country by spending 19 weeks at number one on the Finnish Radio Airplay Chart. She returned to the UMK stage the following year and appeared as one of the interval acts alongside The Rasmus. For the 2023 Contest in Liverpool, BESS acted as the jury spokesperson, giving the 12 Finnish points to Loreen’s “Tattoo”. In 2025, BESS once again appeared as an interval act in the UMK national final, alongside Linda Lampenius, Keira and other Finnish icons.
The latest release to come from the 17th season of the popular Vain elämää TV show sees BESS take on Nylon Beat’s “Seksi vie ja tassi tuo”. The resulting track is a sultry, dance-pop anthem, delivering 1990’s beats with a fresh, modern edge.
This week, the musical theme came from the hits of special guests, Finnish pop duo Nylon Beat.
🇸🇪 Emil Assergård – “BRY DIG OM DIG SJÄLV”
Emil Assergård took part in Sweden’s Melodifestivalen back in 2021, with the song “Om allting skiter sig”. This week, the singer releases new single “BRY DIG OM DIG SJÄLV”, a melodic, country-pop track in the Swedish language. This is quite beautiful, if a little solemn and serious in parts.
🇭🇺 Leander Kills – “Vihar szeme”
Hungarian metal band Leander Kills, and lead singer Leander Köteles with his previous band, have made several attempts to represent Hungary in Eurovision. Their most recent appearance came in the 2019 A Dal national final, with the song “Hazavágyom”, which failed to make the final round of the contest. The previous year, Leander Kills had entered the selection with “Nem szól harang”, reaching the final but loosing out to eventual ESC participants AWS. The group are back with new single “Vihar szeme” this week, and the track is exciting, electro-metal with a pop-punk subtly to it, before the big metal anthem chorus kicks in.
🇨🇿 MYDY – “Honeymoon Hangover”
Electropop / pop-rock band MYDY took part in the 2024 ESCZ national final with the energetic, big-band, pop-punk anthem “Red Flag Parade”. The Prague-based band ultimately finished in 3rd place, with AIKO taking the Czech Eurovision ticket. This week, the group release their latest album “Honeymoon Hangover”, and the sound is pure indie-electronica, with a rockier unperpinning. MYDY are great, and this cements them as an exciting name in Czech music.
🇩🇪 Anica Russo – “Billboard Baby”
Amica Russo most recently attempted to represent Germany in the Song Contest in 2023, entering the Unser Lied für Liverpool national final with her song “Once Upon a Dream”. New single from Anica, “Billboard Baby”, is a guitar-pop anthem, with a slight country edge to it. The track is fun, empowering and catchy. This is the kind of song I would really enjoy in a live concert setting.
🇬🇷 C:Real – “Kathe Mou Skepsi (20th Anniversary Edition)”
Greek pop-rock band C:Real competed in the 2015 edition of the Greek national final for Eurovision with the song “Crash and Burn”. Much of this album is unchanged, but if you haven’t heard it before, go back and check it out. It’s pretty fun.
🇮🇹 sangiovanni – “ok buonanotte”
Italian singer-songwriter sangiovanni has competed twice in Italy’s Festival di Sanremo. Making his debut in 2022 with “Farfalle”, he returned to the festival in 2024 with the track “Finiscimi”. This week, sangiovanni returns with “ok buonanotte”, a big, sing-along pop-rap track with an infectious, catchy beat to it. This would be a great gym song in my opinion.
🇪🇪 elisabeth tiffany – “teisi ei tea”
elisabeth tiffany joined Eesti Laul veterans Minimal Wind back in 2022 with the song “What to Make of This”. After a positive Covid test, the band and elisbeth were not allowed to perform live in the 2022 Eesti Laul Grand Final, but remained in the contest, finishing in second place. Following last week’s collaboration with fellow Eesti Laul alum INGER, this week, elisabeth has released her latest single ahead of her upcoming album. The song is fresh, exciting, guitar heavy electronica.
