🇳🇴 Keiino – “Remember My Name”
🇮🇹 Marco Mengoni – “Giornate perse”
🇱🇻 Justs – “Viņa pie Tevis”
Justs competed in the Contest back in 2016, performing “Heartbeat” in the Grand Final in Stockholm. He has returned to Latvia’s national final Supernova on a number of occasions in recent years, co-hosting the selection in 2018, and performing again as a contestant most recently in 2024, with the song “Fit Right”. This week, Justs is back with “Viņa pie Tevis”, a contemporary, Latvian indie song with a beautiful vocal and incredibly musicality to it. This is really sweet and very captivating.
🇭🇺 Pápai Joci – “Te vagy az én hibám”
Joci Pápai has twice represented Hungary in the Song Contest, finishing 8th in the Grand Final back in 2017 with the song “Origo”, and missing out on qualification two years later with the song “Az én apám”. Jodi is currently taking part in the Hungarian reality competition show A visszavágó – Kapj el, ha tudsz!, following his appearance on the show’s predecessor Most Wanted – a celebrity hunter-pursuit competition reality program. He has, however, still found time for new music in the form of “Te vagy az én hibám”. The track is a dance-pop number, with Latin flair and Joci’s instantly recognisable, piercing voice in the chorus. This is great. If rumours of a Hungarian return to the Contest are to be believed, I wouldn’t be shocked if we see Joci in some form in the coming years.
🇲🇩 Lidia Isac – “Între noi doi”
Lidia Isac represented Moldova in the 2016 Contest in Stockholm, with the song “Falling Stars”. She ultimately was unable to reach the Grand Final of the Contest in Sweden that year, but has maintained a close connection to Eurovision, and has appeared at many events and pre-parties in the subsequent years. Latest single “Între noi doi” is an incredibly sweet song, with a punchy guitar backing. This is a beautiful, emotional, indie-pop-rock sound, with a great guitar line layered underneath Lidia’s lyrics. This song truly shoes off her talent.
🇮🇹 Massimo Ranieri – “Il giorno prima”
Italian singer Massimo Ranieri has twice represented his country in Eurovision. First, in 1971, in Dublin, with the song “L’amore è un attimo”, which finished in 5th place. He returned to the Contest in Luxembourg City, in 1973, finishing in 13th place with the song “Chi sarà con te”. Latest single from the Italian legend, “Il giorno prima”, is a big ballad sound. It’s a good song from the Sanremo icon, with a pleasant backing vocal and great vocals. This doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but when you’re Massimo Ranieri, do you really need to?
🇨🇭 Timebelle – “BAILA CONMIGO”
Timebelle represented Switzerland at the 2017 Contest in Kyiv, with the electro-power ballad “Apollo”, finishing in 12th in the second of the Semi-Finals. The band, fronted by Romanian actress Miruna Manescu, have this week released new single “BAILA CONMIGO”, a summer, latin-pop anthem.
🇦🇲 Iveta Mukuchyan – “Ari Yar”
Iveta Mukuchyan became somewhat of a fan favourite in Eurovision circles when she placed 7th in the Contest in Stockholm with the song “LoveWave”. She has gone on to have a long career in both Armenia and Germany, where she lives. In 2017, she collaborated with fellow Armenian Eurovision entrant Aram Mp3 on “Dashterov”, which went on to win Song Of The Year in Armenia. In 2022, she hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, held in Yerevan. She also featured in the music video for Simón’s 2026 Eurovision entry “Paloma Rumba”. Latest single “Ari Yar” begins as if the song is an emotional ballad, before transitioning into a big disco track. The disco-dance sound works incredibly well for Iveta’s vocal. This is fresh and exciting.
🇩🇰 Tim Schou (of A Friend in London) – “Nobody Says I Love You”
Tim Schou has a long connection to the Eurovision Song Contest, as well as Denmark’s Dansk Melodi Grand Prix national final. He first took part and won DMGP back in 2011, as lead singer of the band A Friend in London. The group went on to place 5th in the Grand Final in Düsseldorf. In the year’s following, Tim remained an active part of the Eurovision community, hosting the official Euroclub during the 2014 Contest in Copenhagen, and writing songs for other artists, including Melfest 2017’s Anton Hangman, with the song “Kiss You Goodbye”. In 2025, Tim returned to MGP as a soloist, with the song “Proud”. He finished in second place in the selection, just one point behind eventual ESC participant Sissal. Latest single “Nobody Says I Love You” is a great indie-pop track, with relatable lyrics and real heart to it. This is contemporary indie, done well. Tim is a real talent.
🇮🇹 Francesco Gabbani – “Viva la vita – con Francesco Gabbani”
Francesco Gabbani will be most known to eurofans as the 2017 Italian Eurovision entrant, with the song “Occidentali’s Karma”. The singer has entered Italy’s Festival di Sanremo on many occasions since then, finishing second in 2020 and most recently competing in 2025 with the song “Viva la vita”. This week, a new duet version of that 2025 Sanremo track has hit streaming services, alongside Sanremo legend Ornella Vanoni. Ornella has taken part in Sanremo a grand total of 8 times as a competing artist, and most recently appeared as a guest performer in the 2023 edition of the festival. The duet of Francesco’s song is pure Italian ballad. Beautiful from both Sanremo legends.
🇸🇮 Maraaya – “Ljubim za oba”
Maraaya represented Slovenia in the 2015 Contest with the song “Here for You”, finishing 14th in the Grand Final. The duo, made up of singer-songwriter Marjetka Vovk and songwriter and producer Aleš Raay Vovk, have also acted as jurors for Slovenia in the Contest since their appearance in Vienna, as well as writing songs for the Junior contest between them. In 2026, the duo entered the San Marino national selection for Eurovision, but were unable to make it past the semi-finals. This week, the pair have released new single “Ljubim za oba”, a Slovenian language ballad with real love and emotion in it. This is a long way from their ESC entry, but it’s just as enjoyable.
🇷🇴 ILINCA – “Divin Féminin”
Romanian singer and songwriter ILINCA will probably be most remembered to eurofans as the singer of 2017’s “Yodel It”, alongside rapper Alex Florea in the Contest in Kyiv. More recently, she has acted as a jury member, a jury spokesperson and this year turned her hand to commentary, serving as co-commentator for Romania’s broadcast of the Semi-Finals in Vienna. This week, ILINCA releases her latest album “Divin Féminin”. The title track, “Divin Féminin”, has a real punky-rock edge to an otherwise RnB anthem. The guitars are heavy on this one! Similarly, ‘Tarot” has a darkness to it, in a way that adds mystery and excitement. The fusion of sounds on this record is great.
🇮🇹 Nina Zilli (& Orietta Berti) – “Maledetto Settembre (feat. Nina Zilli & Danti)”
Nina Zilli represented Italy at the Contest in Baku, in 2012, with her song “L’amore E Femmina”. This week, she’s joined a Festival di Sanremo legend, Orietta Berti, on new track “Maledetto Settembre”. The track, recorded by and featuring Nina’s professional and personal partner Danti, is a fun, road trip anthem in the Italian language. Don’t overthink this, it isn’t exactly the highest form of art, but it’s a fun, sweet song.
