๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฒ San Marino will not be participating in the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest

As time progresses, more and more countries reveal if whether or not they will be participating in the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Another country that would not be present for this year’s competition is San Marino; which confirmed to ESCplus that they will not be participating in this year’s competition.

No reason was given, as to why San Marino will not be participating in this year’s competition. Their non-participation would see them miss out on the competition, for the sixth year in a row. San Marino has not participated in the competition since 2015 when the competition took place in Sofia.

What we currently know about the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest

After winning the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2020, it wasn’t long until it was revealed that the winning host nation; France, will be hosting the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. In May 2021, it was revealed that Paris will be hosting this year’s competition in La Seine Musicale on December 19.

At the time of writing, the following countries have confirmed their participation in this year’s competition

  • France – Host Nation
  • Georgia
  • Germany
  • Ireland
  • The Netherlands
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Russia
  • Ukraine

San Marino’s Junior Eurovision Journey

The micro-nation made its debut to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2013 with Michele Perniola and his entry “O-o-O Sole intorno a me” which placed 10th. San Marino participated two more times, with their recent attempt in 2016 with Kamilla Ismailova and her song “Mirror” which placed 14th and received 36 points overall.
