๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ท Croatia confirms participation for the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest

Whilst we wait to find out where Italy will be hosting the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest. Countries continue to confirm if whether or not they will be present in next yearโ€™s competition. The next country to reveal they will be present is Croatia. The news was confirmed on social media, to confirm that preparations are now in full swing. Croatia’s confirmation will see them participate in the competition for the 27th time.

DORA to select Croatia’s Eurovision 2022 represent

Even before the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest took place, HRT has agreed on a multi-year deal with Croatian city Opatija to host the next three editions of DORA. Since 2019, the competition has been used in order to select its Eurovision representative. However, Croatia did not qualify for the Grand Final of the competition in 2019 and 2021. Will Croatia turn its fortunes around in 2022? Only time will tell.

Croatia’s Eurovision Journey

Prior to their debut, Croatia participated in the competition as part of Yugoslavia. In 1993, Croatia made its debut with Put and the dong “Don’t Ever Cry” which placed 15th. Since then, Croatia has participated 26 times, where they made the final 18 times, with their best result in 1996 and 1999.

Croatia’s recent participation saw them being represented by Albina, with the song “Tick-Tock”. However, despite being a fan-favorite, Croatia only managed to placed 11th in the Semi-Final receiving 110 points from the jury and the public vote and placing 10th in each respective vote.
