🇵🇹 Composers for Simão Oliveira’s Junior Eurovision entry revealed

Whilst all over Europe, National Finals are taking place in order to find their next Junior Eurovision representative. However, some countries decided to opt to select their Junior Eurovision representative internally. One of the countries to do this is Portugal, where they internally selected Simão Oliveira to represent them, thus making them the first country to reveal their representative this year.

However, since then Portugal has been silent about how its preparations have been going, until now. Simão appeared on the program “Alô Marco Paulo” on SIC, where talked about his musical career and his participation in this year’s contest. During his appearance, it was revealed that Fernando Daniel and Diogo Clemente will be the composers of his entry.

One of the composers of Simão’s entry is a familiar face to Eurofans. Fernando Daniel first became prominent, when he participated in the 4th season of The Voice Portugal, where his rendition of Adele’s “When We Were Young” saw all four coaches turned around at his Blind Audition, and ended up winning the competition. His Blind Audition performance has amassed over 112 Million Views on Youtube at the time of writing.

In 2017, he ended up participating at Festival da Canção where he competed with the song “Poema a Dois“, which placed 5th overall. Since then, Fernando has won the Best Portuguese Act award at the 2019 MTV EMA Awards and has since become a coach on The Voice Kids Portugal where he mentored Simão to win in the competition.

The other composer of Simão’s Junior Eurovision entry is Diogo Clemente. He has collaborated with prominent Portuguese artists such as Raquel Tavares, Maria de Fátima, Carminho, Mariza, Marco Rodrigues and Marisa Monte. Alongside Fernando, Diogo also participated at Festival da Canção in 2018, where he composed Peu Madureira’s entry “Só por ela”, which ended up placing 3rd.

With the composers of Simão’s Junior Eurovision entry revealed. At the time of writing, further information about the song, or when it will be released is yet to be confirmed.

Portugal’s Junior Eurovision Journey

In 2006, Portugal made its debut in the JuniorEurovision Song Contest, where Pedro Madeira represented them with the song “Deixa-me sentir” which placed 14th. Since then, Portugal has participated in the competition five times.

Their recent participation at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest was in 2019, where Portugal internally selected Joana Almeida to sing the song “Vem Comigo (Come With Me)” where they managed to place 16th, after receiving 43 points from the online vote.
