As we get closer to the end of September, more and more countries are confirming their intention to participate in next year’s competition. The next country to confirm they will be present in Italy is Azerbaijan which has confirmed to ESCToday that they will be participating for the 14th time.
Selection method still to be confirmed
Alongside the confirmation that they will be participating in Italy, ITV is yet to reveal how they will be selecting their next Eurovision representative. Since their debut in the competition, they have used various selection methods in selecting their entry. Since 2015, Azerbaijan’s representatives in the Eurovision Song Contest were selected internally.
Azerbaijan’s Eurovision Journey
In 2008, Azerbaijan made its debut in the competition with Elnur & Samir and the song “Day After Day”, which managed to place 8th. Since then, they have participated 13 times (12 of which were in the Grand Final), and have won the competition once in 2011.
