Welsh broadcaster S4C has confirmed on twitter that Wales will not be returning to Junior Eurovision 2022. They last competed in 2019, withdrawing in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 concerns. S4C did not state the reason why they were not returning. In their statement, they did however “wish all the participants all the best.”

What we know about Junior Eurovision 2022

Junior Eurovision 2022 is set to be held in Armenia following Malรฉna’s win with Qami Qami in Paris. Wales may not be returning for Junior Eurovision 2022, but a number of countries have confirmed they will be participating. So far we have confirmation from the following countries:

Wales in Junior Eurovision

Wales has appeared twice at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. They made their debut at the 2018 edition held in Minsk, Belarus. They were represented by Manw, who performed “Perta.” At the end of the evening, they finished 20th with 28 points.

The next year they returned with the song “Calon yn Curo,” performed by Erin Mai. In the Gliwice Arena in Poland, Erin scored 35 points, finishing 18th.
