The show will take place from the Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning and will be hosted by Martin Brygmann and Tina Müller. It has also been confirmed 2021 act Fyr and Flamme will perform during the show. The Danish public will have the full say on who represents them at Eurovision, they can vote either by using the DR Grand Prix app or by SMS texting.
Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest
Denmark first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1957 and notched their first win in 1963 with Grethe and Jorgan Ingmann’s “Dansevise”. They finally achieved their second victory in 2000 with the Olsen Brothers’ “Fly on the Wings of Love”, and have only missed the grand final five times since the introduction of the semi-finals. A six-year qualification streak from 2008 culminated in its third win in 2013 with Emmelie de Forrest’s “Only Teardrops”.
Last year, Denmark were represented by duo Fyr og Flamme, unfortunately they failed to reach the 2021 Eurovision final. Their song ‘Øve os på hinanden’ placed 11th in the semi final after scoring 89 points. It wasn’t all bad, they did place 7th with the viewing audience.
